I really don't get that, and I don't understand that unwritten rule about instant rematches for champions who lost the strap. What did they do in the first place to prove they belong in the title hunt? Lose the title to you. What of the guys in the top 5 who just won? They have to wait for you to try and get back the belt you just lost? Ridiculous.

I *hate* the automatic title rematch bullshit. Selfish fucktards scratching each others' backs when there are more worthy contenders available. It's not good for gameplay and it's not realistic.

If I see a number of title rematches in a fighter's record, I'm less likely to offer a title shot. Of course this rarely happens, 'cause I don't hunt belts in the lower orgs, where the worst offenses happen. Generally the guys at the top spread the love around.

Just curious then, what are you supposed to do if you win a belt in a lower org? I hate pissing anyone off, but I guess it seems like you have to since everyone wants a shot at the belt and you can only do one at a time.

I haven't won any belts yet, but my rule would be "top 5 fighters get shots if they won their last match while I was winning/defending the belt. Ranked 1 gets first offer if won last fight, if not then the offer goes to ranked 2 who won their last fight; if not for 2, then for 3, and so on and so forth."

It's the only fair thing to do. Rematches need to be earned, not handed out, especially for a title that others are fighting for, as well.

Look at the recent records of the top five or so contenders and select based on recent win streak and overall quality of opponents. In the case of a tie, go with the more popular fighter.

Just imagine you are the organization's match maker and pick a fighter that has earned a title shot. In my opinion, a fighter coming off a loss only deserves a title shot in really unusual circumstances.
