Because the game isn't rock/paper/scissors where there's a 100% certainty of what the result will be if two people select certain styles. It's also not just rock/paper/scissors where some people are better at rock than you are at scissors. It's also not just rock/paper/scissors where some people are better at rock than you are at scissors but you have a 30lbs weight advantage. It's also not just rock/paper/scissors where some people are better at rock than you are at scissors but you have a 30lbs weight advantage, however the other fighter will never quit and has a rock solid chin. There's also the fact that the game "rolls dice" and sometimes while everything is in your favour, you'll still lose. That's not bullshit, that's bad luck...
In terms of MMArmy type stats Cro Cop would have destroyed Randleman and Kongo, GSP would always destroy Serra, BANG would never have been KO'd in a round by Morgan etc etc. Yet they all lost. Were those fights bullshit?
In fact, what do you mean by bullshit? That the game cheated you? That the system was set up to screw you? Or that you were unlucky in a fight? Because we've all been unlucky in fights before. I've had top notch FS fighters KO'd by 8pts where I had the weight advantage, GnP'ers pound out by CS'rs etc etc. It's not bullshit, it is, in a manner of speaking, why you actually fight the fight.
What CS stats did he have besides Reflex? Why would him using a style he has little stat support be able to carry him over another fighter just because he has weight advantage? How is it a fair decision that a fighter in this game can lose a bout to someone who has little to no stats to support a certain style, but because it's a direct counter to something you have, and because they have a weight advantage, they get the win in a big enough fashion that leaves no doubt? I mean, come on - I've seen it happen all over the place, and not just in this example. Guys with weak or no FF stats using the style to beat a strong PL fighter; a fighter with weak power/strength/wrestling/brawling or so switching to GnP to beat a strong PG fighter that usually works well against strong GnP fighters.
I understand that upsets can happen, but isn't that where a SD would come in to kind of point to you being upsetted? I can understand certain fights going in this manner if the opponent has some decent stats for the style and your fighter has weak hidden stats that dictate they're going to lose in such a manner. Like a PG guy losing to another PG guy who doesn't have better JJ than you, but because your fighter has weaker sub defense is going to be on the receiving end of the loss.
This - but this, however, just wasn't even close. Again, what CS stats does he have? How can he justify making the switch to such a style with weak stats for it? For that, why bother sparring? I should be able to just pick a counter style to my opponent's main style and win that fight, regardless of whether my fighter has any stats for the style. That's what strikes me as bullshit - and many other players have thought this from time to time when they're put in this position of losing a fight to a fighter who had bad stats for a style that just happened to have an advantage over their own style. It has been bullshit for a while, and seeing the answers given to explain why this should be viewed as an acceptable loss is that he had a weight advantage - okay, then explain how I was able to beat some stronger HW fighters who had the same weight advantage, better stats for their style?
Had this just been a SD loss I wouldn't have even thought anything of it, but a UD kind of tells me that he had me beat on everything - better stats for his style, which we can all see wasn't the case given successful models of CS fighters; a weight advantage, which my fighter has overcome before; and a style advantage, which I can't see considering how often I'm told SiO kills CS. So what in this equation dictates that I would be dominated for this loss?
I accept upsets from time to time, especially given my rotten luck, but this wasn't an upset. A UD basically tells me this was a bad fight that I wasn't going to win. So fucking how is that possible? Any answers?
