Rocky Arnold. That would be Sammy boy's first title defense ever and I was pretty nervous about it. Truthfully I haven't been too impressed with Sam's abilities at the ABC level, having only won by split decision. The show this time would be in Detroit, Michigan so we had to fly back to the states while the others trained for their upcoming fights-- Other than Kevin who can act as a corner for the time being. ABC - FLY - Sam DANIELSSON (C) vs. Rocky ARNOLDThe crowd was nearly all pro Arnold given that he is an American fighting on their soil, whereas Sam has been painted as a womanizing foreigner taking all their women. This would be the TOUGHEST challenge yet for Danielsson since this was a legitimate prospect-- The type the EFC has been eyeing as a potential option. If we want our name known? e seize this moment by crushing him.
This Arnold guy is a WRESTLER. Struck Sammy boy with a jab before executing a lovely single leg take down. Danielsson does the right thing here and goes for the triangle but is completely thrown off, getting trapped by the more experienced MMA fighter before taking shot after shot. Danielsson could BARELY move out of this, the weight and pressure of Arnold was too much and he was stuck taking fists and elbows to the face-- Luckily the round ends.
"Sam you can't be letting him take control like that, but it's pretty clear we can't best him on the ground so you have to bang with him standing. There's 4 rounds left to go so get 'im."
Even standing up this Arnold fighter was getting the best of Sam, landing a few strikes at will early. Danielsson was still a little active, getting in a sweet body shot to counter a hook. Sam slipped on something-- Seemed like sweat or blood of the precious fights but Arnold ended up on top! A knee crushes into the body, forcing Sammy boy to roll away. I knew right then and there his liver was struck hard ... I. Arnold follows up with some vicious hammer strikes and the referee steps in once he realizes the Swede isn't properly defending himself! Rocky Arnold wins by TKO (Ref Stoppage) Devastating. Sam is our biggest star and the one that makes the Gym and other fighters the most money through sponsorship. Back to the drawing board against, but we'll have to keep Sam in ABC since his name recognition is still good-- Arnold was just too good of a fighter.

LFC - FW - Chan U BAEK vs. Charlie VINTERWe found a great style to suit Charlie's abilities, so we decided to take a step up anc take a fight against some fairly good Korean sambo fighter. They both lost to Reggie Taylor, both times were for the belt. Doubt some 19 yr old asian kid would be able to stop Charlie fucking Vinter, especially given that he has made adjustments to his game.
Charlie hurts Baek early with a kick that lands flush to the ribs, I could see him hurting! Vinter started to kick the shit out of the asian and eventually put him on the ground with a well-timed cross. Too bad the round ended!
They end up in a clinch for most of the round, not that I can complain since Charlie is clearly getting the better of Chan U Baek. The Asian tried to take his back, but Vinter saw it coming a mile away before tripping him as theround ends.
"Just one more round, buddy. You're almost there!" I'm quite please with his progress using karate, looks to be a real keeper.
Vinter starts the round off with a hook to the body, followed by a vicious straight that narrowly misses the mark! They're in the clinch and go back and forth, all Vinter has to do is finish the Asian and he'll be on the local newspaper. Charlie gets the under hooks, finally, and starts launching knees to the mid-section. I smile, knowing it would probably end soon---What the -fuck-??? ???? Chan U Baek leaps up and shoves a leg over his hea--A flying armbar?? I've never seen one executed before n a fight to be honest so I was shocked. Chalie had no choice but to tap out, but he was so close to winning too. Sucks. Chan U "Git" Baek wins by Submission (Flying Armbar) Charlie has one fight left on his contract and is already thinking about retiring-- It may all depend on how his next fight goes. I don't want my buddy to give up on his dream, but i'd rather not see him get crushed in the cage either.
Kevin e-mailed be the tape of Danielsson's last fight since it was in America while I had to be in Charle's corner. He faced off against 3-0 undefeated American Clive Stevens. He won by split decision, his 3rd in the ABC but ... He looked impressively dominant in the third round and even unleashed a powerful slam on Stevens and forced the Doctor to step in and take a look. The fight continued but .. Great stuff. He's on the right track and should be ready for his next test .. Whatever it might be.

Redemption UNO FC - HW - Raffaele AMBROSI vs. Carl WANGCarl is the biggest guy at our gym and is really good at the style we've been teaching thus far, so I am quite proud of his progress but he hasn't been able to fully translate it onto stage. He's a modest guy but I think he has the potential to fight in the higher leagues and -maybe- make this a full time job. Yeah, i'm saying he could potentially crack Preliator with an outside shot at the EFC but our big friendly giant is pretty content being at UNO as he can perform infront of his family and spend time with them.
Wang isn't known for his striking, in fact he has very little knock out potential and can potentially submit a fighter here and there. That's why it was surprising to see Wang get the better of Raffaele and rock him EARLY. Using his immense strength, he was able to rag doll Ambrosi at will and do whatever he wanted to him. That's the Carl I see potential in.
"Great work in the clinch, take him down and keep doing what you're doing buddy."
Same thing in round 2! Carl picked off right where he left off, countering Raffaele and crushing his face in! I honestly wish Carl was a better finisher but you can't have everything unless you're one of the gifted ones. He shoots in for a takedown and--- Gets it! This Italian clearly had the muscles, but not enough actual strength to stop Carl from sweeping.
"You're showing your strengths there, good job."
Round 3 was TERRIBLE. Cal got dropped to the mat early with a well-timed strike, causing a cut under his eye-- Luckily it wasn't obstructing his vision yet. Carl struggles and keeps Ambrosi guessing, but that's all he did. Carl panicked entirely and ended up giving up the mount instead! Saved by the bell. I'm pretty sure the Italian won the last round like 10-8 but we'll see what the judges say.Carl "Gentle Giant" Wang wins by Split Decision UNO FC - HW - Carl WANG vs. Phil TAYLOR Carl was going up against someone 10 years his junior, but that's how the sport has evolved these days with kids getting involved and whatnot. Still, I told Carl to be aggressive and NEVER let up. Always struggle and look to WIN. I know I said he might have an outside chance of making the EFC, there is one thing that is holding him back. He has no killer instinct, but doesn't have a glass jaw so that's great.
The two fighters didn't engage much in the first round, other than the kick Carl blocked and a few jabs he absorbed. He DID manage to get a sweet takedown at the end of the round. Round 2? Carl put his foot down.
Wang forced Phil back against the cage, manages double underhooks before dragging Taylor to the ground. Though it doesn't pan out and Taylor escapes, only to end up taking powerful fists and an elbow for his troubles. Carl comfortably won that round.
Wang displayed great control in the clinch early, before pushing away--Only to run through Taylor with an amazing drive of a double leg take down-- I like that Wang has learned well, and do enjoy watching his fundamentals. They stay on the ground for the rest of that fight, keeping generally busy before the ref signals the end of the round.Carl "Gentle Giant" Wang wins by Split Decision Wang shows some shades of greatness, but his lack of finishing leaves a lot to be desired. He also refuses to take any fights not in Sweden because he doesn't want to stay away from his family for too long. What will fate have in store for him? UNOFC retained his contractual rights after DOUBLING his pay.

2 Title Vacancy BoutsOur gym has been incredible busy the past few days, but we got 2 title shots. Again for Gabe, and one for Danielsson. Gabe refuses to get off his vegan diet after finding a newfound love for animals, and Danielsson can't help but sleep around--Seriously this guy needs to stop hitting up colleges and go train!
They both take place at the same weekend, while Gabe stays in Sweden and Danielsson has to head to Canada this time with me in Manitoba. Never been there in my life, but goddamn the snow keeps piling up! Kevin and Carl will be Gabe's corners and send me the result and feedback from Gabe's fight while I, alongside Kevin head to Canada with Sam. JSCRAP - BW - Championship Bout - Gabe ANDERSSON vs. Dusty RILEYA 24 year old American newcomer that I thought we could match up well against. He has a wrestling background, but Andersson has really good Judo and Sambo training to help counter. I was a long, drawn out affair with great action but Gabe got roughed up a lot. Cuts and bruises, he was getting struck a lot and failed to capitalize on submissions like he has the ability to do. It ended up going to a decision from what Kevin sent me and the result? ...Dusty Riley wins by Unanimous Decision Oh fuck.ABC - FLY - Championship Bout - Sam DANIELSSON vs. Dong Wan SONG We ended up getting the fighter I was most afraid of in the division, a fighter that is definitely going up to Preliator and potentially the EFC. Sporting a record of 17-9 many doubted Danielsson has much of a chance here--- I just hope our boy can pull through!
What in the fuck??? Song is insanely acrobatic and performing stunts in the cage that I never thought were possible. Striking at Danielsson from near impossible angles! Luckily Sammy boy fakes a take down attempt and drops the bastard to the mat with a left hook. Danielsson rushed Song and started to pummel him. "Good work Sam!" I was shouting, this will be the toughest of challenges. Shots to the ribs and elbows to the thighs, Sammy boy dominated.
The foreign fuck is still doing some spinning shit that I had never observed, forcing Danielsson to take the defensively. That's generally hot the fight went for the next few rounds, as he continues to pull wack stuff out on Danielsson. Sammy boy took a while to get warmed up to the rhythm but by now it may be too late!
Truthfully? Even though Song got off these magnificent strikes and well-timed axe kicks ... Danielsson stayed in textbook form and was starting to pick him apart. Dong Wan got taken to the mat awkwardly after being put off balance by a kick from Danielsson, but the bell saves him.
Dong Wan starts off the final round with a cartwheeling motion, driving he back of his foot against Danielsson's face--But Sammy boy blocks it partially to avoid major damage. What the fuck, is this gymnastics or MMA? They both feel each other out, until Song links an upper cut and hook together. However Sam performs an amazing double leg takedown to drop Song to the mat and the bout ends! To a decision! Dong Wan "Wag the Dong" Song wins by Split Decision
I'm fuming. Danielsson clearly won 3 of those 5 rounds in my eyes, yet his acrobatics must have impressed the judges that much. I want to see a re-match some day but for now? We have one more fight left on our contract with ABC and we need to win or else we'll be in trouble!

Bad BloodABC - FLY - Branden GRAVES vs. Sam DANIELSSON An undefeated American having gone 3-0 thus far in the minors, and will be making his debut against Danielsson. Sam has lost a lot of his motivation since his last loss to Song, despite how close it was. I watched tape on Graves and he has been looking vicious with his background in Muay Thau. Though this could be a tough match up for Sam, but one he can rebound with after winning.
Danielsson ends up eating an uppercut and hook early, but he counters back with a strong cross-hook that I know hurt Graves! A flurry of jabs follow through, but is sturkc back by a standing elbow-- He's cut! We've never dealt with a fighter do adept at using their limbs, it was special to watch. Branden strikes with a great leg kick, but luckily the round ends.
"Sammy boy, you can't let that continue. Take him down and crush him with ground and pound."
The American lands a few punches at will, finishing the combination off with a stiff jab that jolts Sam's head back. It was the kicks, after taking a few more I could see that Danielsson was getting bothered by them and could not keep up. He was even weary of them, being cautious in his approach.
"Sam, it's ether you finish him now or you will lose here. We have to crush him."
Branden was picking Danielsson apart at this point, with a variety of unique strikes before one finally tags Sammy boy and drops him! But this American piece of shit keeps toying with him and doesn't go for the finish, forcing the referee to get Sam back up before continuing. A knee to the midsection drops Sam to the canvas yet again! It was hard to watch. They exchange kicks before Graves motions for Sam to get up, and they're back to standing.
Sam strikes Branden with a great punch, only for the African American fighter to lower his guard and tell Danielsson to hit him harder. He's taunting Sammy boy! They end up exchanging strikes in a short period of seconds, before they end up clinching--Graves specialty. Hooks soften Sam up before Graves drives a thunderous knee into Danielsson's skull, knocking our former Champion backwards-- The bell sounds. Branden Graves wins by Unanimous Decision I winced, a part of my felt like it had been crushed. Danielsson was the backbone of our gym in terms of accomplishments, but now we're back to square one with him barely hanging on in the ABC.
I told Sam to go take that one girl he wanted to take out, now to get his spirits up but .. He noticed that the girl that agreed to go out with him, was walking off with Branden Graves instead1!
This was personal. The way he abused Sammy boy in the cage and acted as if it was nothing, and then to swipe the girl he was going to enjoy a date with!
I wanted to kick the American bastard's head off myself.

Not Done YetSam was uncharacteristically focused this camp, and didn't even go visit any cheap hotels with girls-- Infact he hasn't mentioned a girl for over a week now. Danielsson wanted to get back where he was-- On top. He stumbled but if he keeps up all this good work, I see no reason why he can't get back to being a champion! Watching on TV, we saw that Dong Wan Song won his Preliator debut and looks like he may be getting a title shot sooner rather than later, motivating Danielsson even more to continue his new workout regime. LFC - FW - Borya SEMYONOV vs. Charlie VINTERMy childhood friend Charlie still worked his ass off in camp, teaches Kevin and those local kids. Such a brilliant mind, but I feel he may have started this journey too late into his life--- As his body was betraying him. He's in fantastic shape, yet still gets finished.
I've seen enough fights to know that Vinter is a finish or be finished type of MMA fighter, but he needs to pull through often to overcome this weakness. I fixed a bout up against a Russian that uses a combat sambo style, something he might be familiar with sparring with Danielsson all the time.
If Charlie fucking Vinter doesn't win this fight, we've had some discussions ... This might be the end of the road, I can't watch my best friend get beat up. The fight starts off well, Charlie using his karate background to land a spinning back kick to the body. He sends Borya to the mat, falling into his guard. Charlie was doing well--Until it got to the ground, the Russian swept him and ended up in mount when Charlie was preparing to drop some bombs. The wind up was too much. Charlie eats several strikes and nearly struggles out, but the bell sounds the end of the round.
"Hang in there, don't engage in sambo tactics and stick to your karate. Do what's best for you."
A few strikes exchanged bythem, before Vinter counters with a knee to the body. They end up exchanging some more, before Charli--FLOORS BORYA WITH A COMBO! Vinter follows up as the crowd chants 'Finish him!' and starts raining fists against the Russian's head, before the Russian taps from the punishment and brute force of Charlie's fist.
The veteran hangs on, ready to fight another day. Charlie Vinter wins by Submission (Tap to Strikes)

ABC - FLY - Branden GRAVES vs. Sam Danielsson IIIt took a good month or so to get this event together, but I have seen Sam training like NEVER before. He breathes, eats and sleeps at the Gym for this camp and looked to be in tip top condition. The weight cut went tremendously well and I believed Danielsson could bring it in the second bout after he was absolutely clowned in the first one.
Sam will get crushed if he loses this fight, especially given the amount of effort he put in. 110%. He was eerily silent through out preparation and didn't even wink at any of the girls nearby, he marches straight to the cage and was ready to fight with only one goal in mind-- Destroy Branden Graves.
Graves accepted this fight, likely thinking it would be another cakewalk and another notch on his undefeated record. Many people believe that Graves will be fighting the winner of Arnold/Taylor.
Branden walked in with 6 Swedish women, clearly mocking Danielsson and the Gym. I gripped the town tightly, Charlie was holding me back-- I was ready to step into the ring myself. Sammy boy didn't say a word, at all. He was like a killer, blue eyes cold. The two fighters exchange punches, not any truly hitting the mark before entering a clinch-- Which is Graves specialty. But Sam lands a powerful uppercut in close, taking the back of Graves who had been attempting a Kimura. Luckily Danielsson breaks out of the hold and pushes Graves away, the fighters circle eachother.
I'm getting worried here, but Sam looks calm. Danielsson strikes the American with a right that forces Branden to tumble backwards onto the mat, Danielsson towering over him. Sam lands some solid punches standing, before Graves yanks down on his arm and pulls the Swede in. Graves tries to switch, but they both scramble and end up on their feet. Even if it wasn't intended, Graves would rather take this fight standing.
"I don't know if I can watch Charlie." What if Branden drops him? here are always what-ifs in MMA.
Danielsson plows into Graves for a double leg take down, driving him to the mat! Sam sets in a hammerl--Graves slips out! Danielsson begins to get up for some reason ... But Graves took this opening too lightly, and left himself open as soon as his guard loosens. Sam spins into a kneebar maneuver! Branden tries to punch at Sammy boy, who now sinks in the hold and ... He screams and taps in fury! It's over! Graves had taunted and toyed with Sammy boy in the first fight, only to get absolutely starched in the rematch. Graves is undefeated no more, and Danielsson might get a good crack at an elite fighter. Sam Danielsson wins by Submission (Kneebar)
With how Danielsson dominated Graves, it's only natural I thought he would follow the same strict regime that helped him out but .. He went back to chasing skirts and sleeping with women! Charlie, go get him from that hotel now! I'm proud of Sammy boy though.

UNO FC - HW - Championship Vacancy - Cassidy FUIMAONO vs. Carl WANGAfter going on a tear of 3 straight wins, Carl has been recognized as a top contender in UNO's heavyweight division and was offered a chance to compete for the belt against former Champion Cassidy Fuimaono. Cassidy had loads of experience, but I was pretty confident that Wang has a solid understanding of the fundamentals taught here at Gustafsson Wrestling.
As always, I was worried and Carl is such a great guy that I only wish for him to succeed. His wife and 2 children will be in the crowd, alongside some fellow construction workers from his regular job.
Carl is the strongest and fastest he has ever been, so I expect him to bring it against a former champ.
It begins. A right hook from Carl crashes Cassidy to the ground, exactly what I wanted to see! Wang is more of an overpowering grappler but has become for his unexpected capabilities in striking. Wang drops in for a huge strike to the former champ's chin, landing into his guard. Carl Wang just starts to unload punches--And this is where I wish he had knock out strength. If he had the knock out power of Vinter or Sammy boy? This would have already been over. For the remainder of the round, Carl uses his impressive weight to maintain mount while dropping fists into Cassidy's face as the former champ tries to escape-- It was futile. Round over.
"That was amazing Carl, you need to follow up with more of that ground and pound. Don't be afraid of standing up and banging, he doesn't stand a chance!"
Carl is a man possessed, I can't believe it. He forces a clinch with Cassidy and unleashes some brutal knees to the mid-section before they end up on the ground--Carl's standing submission attempted failed as the American utilized a shovel punch to knock Wang back. Cassidy is very adept at using this gator-roll motion to escape from the leg locks of Carl and they end up standing. Carl forces the former champ's back against the cage with some big punches, only to drag him down to the mat--The former Champion was helpless against Carl's strength! Wang makes use of this moment to get some ground and pound in before Cassidy escapes a leg lock attempt yet again.
"All that training you've been doing comes down to this. Your friends, family and loved ones are watching. Look here Carl, take the belt. Be the Champion you've always wanted to be."
Fuimaono staggers Wang with a hard uppercut, before entering a clinch. Carl tries to take him down, but Cassidy quickly tries to slap a guillotine choke on Carl-- Who manages to slip out just in time to get caught in guard. Wang lightly strikes away at Cassidy's head-- The former champ slides inbetween Carl's legs and trips him to the ground! Phew, the round ends. I'd still put it 2-1 in favor of us.
"Carl, you need to win the next round for there to be no doubts that you come out the winner in a decision. I think you should go out there for the finish, and give your family something to be proud of. A Champion."
That's all Carl wanted, to show his kids that he can be a Champ too.
Carl instantly shoots for a takedown and puts Cassidy to the ground, had me biting my nails here. Fuimaono keeps Carl close to try and avoid shots, but Wang slams hard shots to the former champion's ribs and elbows to the thighs. I think Carl won that round, but there was still one more to go.
"You need to get through this, Carl. Best conditioning of your LIFE! Don't falter and don't get finished. Go out there and win this fight!"
Carl has surprisingly good agility for a big guy, avoiding the counter punches from Cassidy after executing a combo. Wang gets tripped up again, he needs to do a better job at avoiding those, and the fight goes to the ground. Cassidy tries to pass gu--Carl stops him with a solid punch. Good job! Carl steals mount and starts to absolutely punish Cassidy with punches. The former champion just couldn't escape under the weight of Carl!
The fight ended and it would go to a decision, just as I had predicted. The referee holds the arms of both fighters and ...
The new UNO FC Heavyweight Champion is .... !" Carl "Gentle Giant" Wang wins by Unanimous Decision
The family of Carl joins him in the octagon as they enjoy the moment, alongside several of his co-workers from his actual occupation. Carl is just a simple family man, and now he's a champion--But little does he know, his kids always thought of him as a Champ.
Gabe, Charlie and Sammy Boy will be in action soon.
Charlie signed with UNO instead of the LFC due to a payment dispute, will he be able to handle the new environment?
