Back 2 Back

JScrap has been quite generous to us, but it all as to do with the effort and performances of my fighters. 2 title shots. Featherweight and Bantamweight. Charlie Vinter and Gabe Andersson. Gabe slacks the most, but clearly has the talent to submit people with his strength and skill on the ground. Whereas Charlie puts in an insane amount of effort, only to have his body fail him time and time again.

What will happen?

JSCRAP - FW - Championship Vacancy - Charlie VINTER vs. Ed VAUGHN

Charlie still followed the usual routine of teaching local kids karate, training with Kevin and being the corner in the other fighter's bouts. He will definitely be a trainer at our gym whenever he feels like it's time but for now he's preparing for a big challenge.

Charlie connects with a solid punch, which prompts Ed to engage in a clinch. Vinter does a good job keeping busy with a few punches to the ribs. Charlie finally breaks free and crates some distance, i'm here sweating because there's one major issue with my childhood friend, his chin.

Vinter does a good job keeping distance with leg kicks, easily avoiding a jab combination from Vaughn to counter with a front kick to send the American tumbling. Charlie follows up with another kick that ... PUTS HIM TO THE CANVAS! Charlie pounces, but Ed tries to move out of the way--Too late. The fist bounces Ed's head off the ground while his eyes roll back.

JSCRAP - BW - Championship Vacancy - Red ROBINSON vs. Gabe ANDERSSON

Another Championship vacancy in JungleScrap and it's for the BW title. We ended up scheduled against 1-0 undefeated Muay Thai Canadian fighter known as Red Rum Robinson. This would be tough standing, but I feel that Gabe can take this to the ground and make this an actual fight. Our resident Vegan Surfer has 8 fights under his belt and is finally getting used to the cage-- Too bad he barely trained for this fight and was just catching the waves.

Gabe stands and bangs early, a hook dropping Red to the mat. Andersson tries to drop some fists, but missed and simply ends up in his guard. Robinson ends up giving up his back after a struggle, taking some punches to the face for his troubles. I can see that Gabe is trying to soften Robinson u to try a submission, but this Canadian is playing it proper.

"You did controlling him on the ground. Get the takedown and force it there-- But do not. -Do not- let him get mount."

Red takes the fight to Gabe, clinching and driving a knee into the face of Gabe that causes his nose to bleed. Oh no. Gabe tries to get a standing kimura, but ends up being pushed away. Back to striking. Andersson ends up on the wrong side of a punching combination, several more shots getting through the guard of Gabe. A sweeping left hook FLATTENS Gabe Andersson and sends him crashing to the ground. He still knew that Gabe was awake and took the smart approach of staying up.

"Shit. Shit. Gabe, you alright? Can't stand and bang or get into the clinch. He's killing you. Takedown." Me and Charlie spent most of this break trying to fix up his injuries-- This guy has some vicious knees.

An upward elbow immediately ROCKS Gabe, struck by a lead uppercut right after only to be followed through with a right hook. Gabe barely remains standing, before ... Gabe is caught with an eyepoke! Andersson says he's okay bu we'll have to take a look.

It's not good. Gabe's left eye is essentially useless at this point, and his nose was bloodied from that elbow he took that time. "Gameplan is the same, take him down. Listen. Endure."

Andersson has a habit of not listening, and that's what happened. Red Rum Robinson put on a striking CLINIC, absolutely dismantling Gabe with beautiful combinations and well-timed strikes. He clinches at will and Gabe seems powerless, not able to make anything work this round and only getting battered.

I'm tempted to throw in the tile, Gabe barely seems to be functioning or responding-- Well, it's not like he listens much to my advice anyways. "You have to finish him, Gabe. Submit him. That's all you need to do."

This Robinson guy is good. He keeps Gabe on the defensive, and the one time Gabe takes the knee to try and take the fight to the ground? Red Rum Robinson slaps a guillotine, but Gabe escapes just in time. Only to be forced into a clinch, taking brutal knees. Fuck. Robinson drives his foot into Gabe, sweeping through to knock him down. Robinson just unleashes brutal stomps and Gabe lay motionless. It was over.

Not the most ideal situation, but it seems like Charlie is back on the right track with Gabe is still trying to find his way. A bit conflicted, but Andersson is still apart of my gym and I won't give up on him.
