What is up with your mask protocols in the US even? Inconsistent enough that I saw Red Letter Media spoof it during one of their new vids.

Weekly basis would be an exaggeration.
I'm also not American. Everyone up here in Ontario Canada have been wearing masks in public for almost 18months. And it has made no difference in our cases.

The red letter media parody was likely geared towards Fauci. Who started off saying:
No mask due to supply concerns.
No mask because it provides false sense of security
No mask due to "schmutz" getting stuck in it.
Ok, now wear a mask.
Double Mask
Triple Mask
No Mask.

I'm sure supercuts exist of Fauci being all over the place with his opinion. He still is.

Just on taking in raw data it seems like on earlier surges places with no mask mandates were hit hard. On most recent surges it seemed like that trend changed, mask mandates didn't seem to matter as much. Lot of factors, places that ended mandates early tended to have summer weather sooner, could be that had an impact.

The thing I love about science it that it changes with evidence. Covid still new, still a lot to learn, the recommendations have changed with evidence. Lately in the US I think the CDC could do a better job communicating, seems to be a lot of confusion over here and a variety of mask policies now as the case numbers are down and we start to get back to more normal.

If the evidence ends up being that masks didn't help, that's fine, we learned something new for sure about Covid. It was never about control, it was about doing our best to save lives.

this is not true. one thing i will give modern lefties is that they have raised wordsmithing to an art form. science doesn't change. scientific theories, scientific methods, scientific concepts, etc can all change. science remains unchanged. subtle difference? not really. when you reduce things to the lowest common denominator (the majority of dipshits in this country), saying shit like "i follow the science" sounds really impressive. almost undebatable. "as the science changes, so does our strategy". you can start to see how the difference isn't so subtle. what they're saying, in effect, is "science is this ultra-intellectual monolith that you're too dumb to understand. trust our scientists."

my other new favorite lefty wordsmithing is a way they try and shut down dialog on a given topic by using the "this isn't a political issue, it's a human rights issue" gimmick (BLM/critical race theory, "living wages", a host of other socialist programs, etc). meanwhile, you could literally use that BS for just about any political issue (abortion, 2A, free speech, etc.).




i don't think mask mandates were about control per say. i believe they were relentlessly pushed by democrats during election season to serve as a constant reminder of their false narrative that Trump caused covid (or at least his "poor" handling of it made it worse). you couldn't turn on a news cast that showed a dem politician without a mask (except when pelosi pandered to china town).
