Round 1
David connects with numerous jabs to the face of Thompson. David Szalai winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. David Szalai attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Thompson pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. Thompson stuffs a shot from David and hits him with an outside body shot. David gives up on the takedown and pulls guard. David attempts a switch from the guard, but a scramble takes place getting both fighters to their feet. Chase narrowly dodges a cross from David, but falls catching him in his guard. Chase Thompson powers out sweeping David Szalai with pure strength. Chase Thompson is now in side control. Thompson lands a few stiff elbows from side control. A knee to belly allows David Szalai to twist from his back, pulling Chase Thompson off balance. David Szalai then switches him to guard and stands up. Round 2
Chase takes David Szalai down to the mat with a good double leg takedown, leading to him standing over David Szalai. Chase stands over David Szalai, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. David Szalai is able to grab an arm and pull Chase into his guard. Thompson attempts to set in a hammer lock from being caught in the guard. David Szalai slips out of it at the last moment. Chase distracts David Szalai with peppering shots. Chase then isolates a leg and sinks a achilles lock. David Szalai is able to force his way out but gives up mount in the ensuing scramble. Thompson punishes David Szalai with a series of strikes from the mount. Szalai gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Szalai eats a few stiff shots from Chase, and rolls giving mount to stop the ref from ending the fight. Chase postures up and begins to fire off rapid shots from mount but Szalai tripods up and sweeps him over to his back. Szalai quickly gets himself to mount. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.

Round 3
David attempts to press in but Chase Thompson uses a inside reaping to put David on the canvas. Chase Thompson hops to side control. Chase slides his knee across the body of David and takes full mount. Chase Thompson punishes Szalai with a series of strikes from the mount. David Szalai gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Szalai carefully protects himself from "Kumites" strikes. Chase peppers shot to the head of David Szalai looking for an opening to apply a rear naked choke but David Szalai is hand playing well. Round 3 is over.
