Welcome to the MMArmy Tutorial.
If you've already registered an account and jumped in to the game you may have found it very overhwelming. The goal of this tutorial is to walk you through the basic gameplay so that you can get right into the meat of what this game brings to the table. You'll come to find that MMArmy is in fact very simple at its core while being highly addictive mixed martial arts fun.
We'll begin at our team home page as it is the page you are redirected to when you log in. Here you can find basic information including how much money your team has available to it. You'll find that money will be difficult to come by starting out, but stick with it and you'll find cash flow problems to be a thing of the past.
Recruit
The first thing you'll need to do is recruit a fighter. On the left side of the screen you'll a see a button titled "recruit". Click that button. The fighter in front of you is your first fighter so treat him well. We wouldn't want him getting lonely so click recruit four more times and you'll have a total of 5 fighters on your team. Starting out you can only recruit 5 fighters and then you will have to wait 1 day before you can recruit another.
Styles Make Fights
Take a look at a fighter by clicking his name in the "My fighters" section on the left side of the screen. Take a good look at his statistics an familiarize yourself with them. Click the "style" link just to the left of the fighter. You'll notice a list of fighting styles and the descriptions associated with them. Having a good grasp of your fighters statistics you'll need to choose a style that you think best fits his abilities. If you fighter is terrible in wrestling you might not want to consider Lay and Pray, however if he is exceptional at brawling you might find that Swing for the fences is most suitable for him.
You'll notice a primary and secondary style. The primary style is the one a fighter will use at the start of a fight. If the fight is going poorly your fighter may change to his secondary style if the circumstances are right. This can be changed at any point in the game. If you feel a style isn't working for your fighter perhaps try a new one.
Training
Now that you've decided how your fighter is going to fight, you should prepare by training him. Click on the "sparring" link to the left of your fighter. You'll see your various skills and attributes, as well as your teamates name. Decide what skill you'd like to train and with whom you'd like to train. You'll want to choose a person who is skilled in the discipline you are attempting to train in. Once you've chosen these click the "spar" button and you'll be told whether your session was a success or not.
You'll start out with 5 sparring points per fighter and every 12 hours another one will added to each fighter. The max a fighter can have is 5, so be certain not to let them pile up and risk losing precious time.
The Contract
Now that your fighter is prepared for combat he'll need to sign a contract with a fight company. Click the "contract" link to the left of your fighter. You'll see a list of companies interested in signing your fighter. Choose the one that you find to be most fitting, based on how much he can earn (cash/purse), length of contract (number of fights), and the popularity of the company. Once you have done so you'll see your contract screen change. All of your details will be listed there as well as a feature called "auto-renew". This feature will allow your fighter to automatically renew his contract with the company as he comes to the end of it. There are many instances where this is beneficial.
In some cases your fighter will not renew even though you have this option selected. If your fighter has been on a hot streak there is a chance your popularity so greatly exceedes the companies that they will no longer have you on their roster. This is a good sign as it means your fighter is moving up the ranks.
Edit Your Fighter
Your fighter looks ridiculous. He's also way too fat for his division, not to mention he has no nickname. You can change all of this from the "edit" link to the left of your fighter. You can change the fighters attire from the list of items you've purchased in the shop (the link is on the left side of the page under your "My Links" section), as well as the fighters nickname . When changing his weight however, it becomes a bit more tactical. Like in reality fighters are able to cut weight to make a division, and sometimes there is a limit to how much weight they can lose. Choose your fighters weight division wisely, and don't be afraid to experiment to find a fighters ideal weight. Be warned though, not making weight will result in losing your ability to fight for that session (sessions are in 12 hour increments).
If you become a champion in a weight division, changing to another weight will force you to vacate your title.
Time to Fight
The stage is now set for your first fight, so click the "fight" link just to the left of your fighter. Every 12 hours in the real life represents a single game month. Fighters can fight once every game month.
You'll see the champion towards the top of the page as his name will be in a gold color. You'll find your fighters name towards the bottom. Don't expect to be able to challenge the champion immediately. In order to do so you'll need to rise through the ranks. So choose a fighter near you and click "challenge" next to their name. This will send out a challenge to the trainer of that fighter. When he logs on he'll see the request and either accept it, or deny it. If accepts it, you'll see on your team home page a message saying that your fighter has had a fight. Click the link to see the details of the fight.
Likewise you can be challenged in the same manner. Towards the top of the page you'll see your recieved challenges.
Choosing an opponent can be as particular or as broad as you prefer. You will come to find that certain styles may have advantages over another style and this may lead to you dodging an opponent possessing that style. Being too particular can earn you a poor reputation with your fellow players, and being too broad can lead to you not be succesful. It's up to you to find that good balance.
Equipment
5 fighters is just not enough. You can increase your maximum number of fighters by clicking the "Equipment" link to the left. Here you can spend your hard earned money on various equipments and enhancements. You'll also notice each of the skills have equipment associated with them. By increasing the level of this equipment your fighters will have a higher chance of success when training in these disciplines and skills.
Retirement
All good things come to an end, and just as in reality your fighters will eventually retire. Fighters can get up to 15 game years of play. There is no way of knowing when exactly a fighter will retire, so make the most of him while you have got the chance.
Conclusion
MMArmy is a game meant to be played over several months, not several hours. If you find you are losing fights consistently try switching your strategy up, or better yet, go to the forums and seek advice there. Don't let frustration get the better of you, and always treat your fellow players with respect. If you enjoy the game consider purchasing credits in the future to help support the people that made it.
Thank you for playing MMArmy, and as Big John would say "Let's Get It On!"
