Round 1 "MK12" fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing Thornton to the cage. Thornton swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. "MK12" drops some good punches while being caught in the guard. Masato backs his arms out of Thorntons guard, leaving just his head caught. Masato slips to the side and gets dominate control. Nick takes a few knees to the body while under Kanadas side control. Masato Kanada slides his knee across the body of Thornton and takes full mount. Kanada maintains mount but laying some well timed strikes. Kanada executes a double hand slap to the ears of "The Belieber". Round 1 is over.
Round 2 "The Belieber" narrowly dodges a cross from "MK12", but falls catching him in his guard. Kanada pushes down Nick Thorntons leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Nick Thornton tries to slip his leg out to get full guard, but is having difficulty. Kanada presses his foot onto the thigh of "The Belieber" to get his own foot free. He successfully releases his leg and moves to side control. "MK12" wraps the arm of "The Belieber" behind his back and traps it. "MK12" pounds away with shots to the face. Nick Thornton tries to get back to full guard, but has to settle with half guard. Nick Thornton tries to scramble out of half guard, but Kanada takes his back during it. Kanada executes a double hand slap to the ears of Thornton. Masato Kanada peppers shot to the head of Nick Thornton looking for an opening to apply a rear naked choke but Nick Thornton is hand playing well. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 Masato Kanada lands a strong outside leg kick that is returned by "The Belieber". Nick Thornton connects with a series of punches forcing Kanada into a clinch. Kanada dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Nick standing over him. Nick kicks at the legs of Masato and then asks him to stand up. The referee tells Masato to stand. A lazy leg kick from Masato is caught by Thornton who lands a huge overhand right, flooring Masato. Nick chucks "MK12s" legs to a side to attempt a soccer kick but misses and he elects to sprawl into side control. Masato takes a few knees to the body while under Thorntons side control. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 4 Both fighters trade shots and back away looking for the next opening. Nick takes a punch to the jaw. He drops his hands and asks Masato Kanada to hit him harder. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Nick Thornton grabs the plum and lands several knees to the legs Masato Kanada. After dodging a jab, Thornton lands a kick to the liver of "MK12" who steps back only to take a knee. Thornton rushes forward to capitalize but "MK12" falls to his back to avoid the onslaught. Thornton stands over Kanada, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Kanada is able to grab an arm and pull Thornton into his guard. "MK12" slides his body to the side and pushes out of guard. "The Belieber" grabs a guillotine hold and forces "MK12" back down gaining side control. "MK12" almost switches side control around, but falls short at the last moment. Masato Kanada sweeps over Nick Thornton and quickly obtains mount position. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 5 Kanada connects with numerous jabs to the face of Nick Thornton. Nick connects with a hard right hand putting Kanada on the mat. Nick goes down with him into side control.Round 5 comes to a close.
