Round 1 Makoni connects with a jab cross combination. Beau Mitchell fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing Makoni to the cage. Makoni swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. Mashinda Makoni locks a kimura and forces Beau Mitchell to defend. Mashinda Makoni settles for a couple of cross-body chops to Beaus temple. Beau Mitchell distracts Makoni with some peppering shots. Beau Mitchell then isolates a leg and falls back into a achilles lock. Makoni is able to force his way out of it but gives up half guard in the ensuing scramble. Beau Mitchell tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. Mashinda Makoni holds the head of Beau Mitchell close to avoid shots. Beau Mitchell slams shots to his opponents ribs and throws hard elbows to the thighs. Mitchell attempts to sink a neck crank from half guard. It does not appear to be tight enough as Mashinda gives a thumbs up to the referee until he finally struggles out. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 Makoni connects with a series of punches forcing Mitchell into a clinch. Mashinda Makoni works Beau into the cage from the clinch. Mashinda Makoni presses his head under Beau Mitchells chin so he cannot defend the piston shots from either side. Beau Mitchell attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Mashinda pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. The fighters circle each other. Mashinda throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. Beau Mitchell is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. Mashinda connects with a combination and backs away from the counter combo of Mitchell. Mitchell attempts a takedown but slips, and Mashinda backs away. Mashinda is standing over Mitchell. Makoni lays into Mitchell with some stomps. Mitchell can't handle it as the ref stops the fight.
