Round 1
Both fighters begin to exchange Jermain catches Makoni with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Makoni gather himself. Makoni says he is ok and the fight continues. Townsend presses forward and is able to jump up and grab onto Makoni, aggressively pulling guard. Jermain Townsend gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Makoni laces the legs of Townsend giving Townsend the opportunity to somersault over and quickly wrapping up an omoplata. Makoni somersaults over allowing Townsend to take side control. The round comes to an end.

Round 2
Mashinda throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. "DaDa 2500" is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. Makoni connects with jab cross combination. Mashinda is hit with two hard punches to his face. Mashinda laughs off the punches. Townsend is staggered by a jab to the chin. Mashinda connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Mashinda Makoni takes a punch while shooting but executes the takedown and ends up in Townsends guard. Round 2 is finished.

Round 3
Makoni is caught square on the jaw putting him to the canvas, Jermain Townsend prepares to pounce, but Makoni gets his bearings just in time. Townsend attempts to drop a fist on Mashinda Makoni, but misses and lands in his guard. Mashinda shifts his hips to get better position in the guard. Townsend passes through Makonis guard into mount. Jermain Townsend maintains mount but laying some well timed strikes. Mashinda Makoni gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Townsend lays into Makoni with some strong shots forcing Makoni to give up mount position. Makoni pulls his leg out from under Jermain and gets back to half guard. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.

Round 4
Townsend narrowly dodges a cross from Mashinda, but falls catching him in his guard. A tight body triangle from the bottom position forces Mashinda Makoni to pull Townsend close. Mashinda Makoni is having trouble breathing in Jermain Townsends guard. An attempt to pull a switch is blocked by Mashinda but both fighters end up on their side. Both fighters scramble to a stand up. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.

Round 5
Townsend lands a double jab. Jermain Townsend presses forward and is able to jump up and grab onto Makoni, aggressively pulling guard. Makoni frees a leg and moves into half guard. "DaDa 2500" goes to deep half guard and grabs the arm of Mashinda and sweeps him forward into side control. Makoni gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Round 5 comes to a close.
