Round 1 Mashinda hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. Mashinda Makoni narrowly dodges a cross from Damian Hubbard, but falls catching him in his guard. Mashinda Makoni attempts an armbar. Damian Hubbard time a spin perfectly landing a strong overhand as he works his way into Makonis guard. Hubbard eats a stiff punch to the face, and is then switched, giving Mashinda full mount. Damian Hubbard shifts his head and hips to keep Makoni off balance and unable to land strikes. Hubbard bucks off Makoni and both fighters get to their feet. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Hubbard connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Hubbard throws a cross that easily dodged by Mashinda. Damian Hubbard throws a wild punch, putting him off balance. A few well timed strikes from Mashinda puts Damian Hubbard on the mat giving his back up. Giving up his back, Hubbard panics and gives up mount instead. Damian Hubbard attempts to buck Mashinda off from mount but Mashinda keeps his base and maintains position. Mashinda splits Damian Hubbards nose open with a well timed punch. Round 2 is finished.
Round 3 Makoni connects with a hard punch making Damian Hubbard bring him in to a tight clinch. Makoni stomps the feet of Hubbard. Mashinda fakes a shot attempt from the clinch, opening Hubbard up for a flurry of hooks. Mashinda Makoni connects with a right that puts Damian Hubbard off balance tumbling to the mat, as Mashinda Makoni towers over him. Mashinda attempts to drop a fist on Hubbard, but misses and lands in his guard. Mashinda stands up with Damian Hubbard still holding guard. As Damian Hubbard releases his guard Mashinda spins to a kneebar but it is too shallow. Mashinda takes couple of shots to the head. The fighters scramble to standing position. Damian stuffs a takedown but is backed into a corner and must slide into guard to avoid being picked up. A right hand from Damian while in guard angers Mashinda Makoni who returns the favor with a powerful right hand. Mashinda Makoni opens up the guard and rises back to his feet. The bell signals the end of round 3.
Round 4 Damian Hubbard hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Mashinda. Both fighters move in to strike but miss their marks. As they jockey for position in the clinch Damian Hubbard wins the momentum battle and falls into side control on top of Mashinda. Damian Hubbard wraps the arm of Mashinda behind his back and traps it. Damian Hubbard pounds away with shots to the face. Damian Hubbard drops some good elbows to the face of Mashinda forcing him to give up his back. Damian is working a furious pace on Mashinda Makoni, intermingling strikes with positional dominance at will. Damian Hubbard executes a double hand slap to the ears of Mashinda Makoni. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 5 Makoni connects with a hard punch making Damian bring him in to a tight clinch. Mashinda Makoni throws a short elbow at Damian Hubbard. Makoni breaks away from the clinch while delivering a knee. Hubbard is caught square on the jaw putting him to the canvas, Mashinda prepares to pounce, but Hubbard gets his bearings just in time. Mashinda Makoni stands over Damian Hubbard, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Damian Hubbard is able to grab an arm and pull Mashinda Makoni into his guard. Mashinda Makoni stands up with Damian still holding guard. As Damian releases his guard Mashinda Makoni spins to a kneebar but it is too shallow. Mashinda Makoni takes couple of shots to the head. The fighters scramble to standing position. Mashinda takes a punch while shooting but executes the takedown and ends up in Hubbards guard. Damian Hubbard attempts an armbar.
