Round 1 Benjamin sends Artigas to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. Benjamin pushes down Elys leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Ely holds the head of Benjamin close to avoid shots. Benjamin slams shots to his opponents ribs and throws hard elbows to the thighs. Benjamin slips out of half guard and into side control. Benjamin Haugen lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Artigas gives his back in an attempt to get out of side control. As Benjamin spins around to take it, Artigas makes his way back to his feet.Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Ely Artigas lands a devastating overhand right on Benjamin Haugen. Artigas circles Haugen, landing jabs and crosses at will. Benjamin Haugen attempts to clinch, but Ely connects with an uppercut to the jaw. Ely circles Benjamin Haugen, landing jabs and crosses at will. Ely Artigas opens up on Benjamin with frequent peppering strikes. Benjamin Haugen is staggered by a jab to the chin. Ely connects with 1-2 jab hook combo and quickly steps away. A wild hook from Benjamin Haugen is ducked by Artigas who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Haugen throws a powerful left hook, but is met with a strong jab from "Cub". Benjamin Haugen connects with a hard jab as Artigas attempts a wide outside hook. Round 2 is finished.
Round 3 Ely Artigas is staggered by a jab to the chin. Haugen presses forward, grabbing the plum and lands a strong hook, buckling "Cub" to the mat. Haugen stands back and waves "Cub" up. Haugen fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Ely Artigas. Haugen grabs the plum and pulls Artigass face towards a powerful knee which is blocked. Haugen lets go of the hold and lands a hook. Ely Artigas parries a jab but leaves himself open for a hard cross that sends him to the canvas. Benjamin Haugen follows with a falling punch into Ely Artigass guard. Ely backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. Haugen buckles Ely Artigas with a kick. Haugen rushes forward to grab a guillotine, then falls to guard. Ely Artigas is in trouble but is able to muscles his way out of the choke. Benjamin powers out sweeping "Cub" with pure strength. Benjamin is now in side control. Haugen throws his knee into the ribs of Ely. Haugen lands a few stiff elbows from side control. Round 3 is finished.
Round 4 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Benjamin Haugen works "Cub" into the cage from the clinch. Benjamin Haugen presses his head under Ely Artigass chin so he cannot defend the piston shots from either side. Haugen attempts to pull guard, but slips, putting him on the ground, and with Ely standing over him. Ely attempts to drop a fist on Benjamin Haugen, but misses and lands in his guard. Artigas tries to pass guard but Benjamin stops him with a well timed punch. Haugen lands a stiff elbow while on his back. Benjamin Haugen connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Benjamin attempts a few a shots from the guard, but gets mounted for his troubles. The bell signals the end of round 4.
Round 5 Ely Artigas parries a jab but leaves himself open for an uppercut. Haugen connects with a jab cross combination. Haugen turns slightly and fires an upward elbow rocking Ely Artigas. Benjamin winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. "Cub" lands a hook to the body. Artigas hits a hook to the body and follows with a power straight that misses. Benjamin Haugen blocks a hook cross combo but is pushed backward. Ely Artigas tries to press the action but is met with a hook, uppercut that keeps him at bay. Round 5 comes to a close.
