Round 1 Makoni is hit with a jab and then taken down by a beautiful single-leg takedown. Mashinda Makoni connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Colt takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Mashindas guard. It doesn't pay off as Mashinda Makoni makes his way to standing. Colt Green winds up a heavy straight but is countered by a hard counter knee to the body. Mashinda takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Colt stuffs a shot from Mashinda and lands several shots to his body. Mashinda attempts to pull guard but Colt makes it to side mount. Colt Green wraps the arm of Makoni behind his back and traps it. Colt Green pounds away with shots to the face. Makoni sweeps over Green and quickly obtains mount position. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Colt connects with a hard punch making Makoni bring him in to a tight clinch. Green gets double underhooks, and unleashes unanswered knees to the midsection. Green takes the back of Mashinda Makoni who works for a kimura. Green pulls his arm out of the hold and push Mashinda Makoni away. Green fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing Mashinda to the cage. Mashinda swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. While caught in the guard, Green opens up a cut on Makoni with a devestating elbow. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. Green dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Mashinda Makoni standing over him. Mashinda Makoni attempts to drop a fist on Green, but misses and lands in his guard. Colt Green keeps his head down in the chest of Mashinda Makoni to avoid any submission attempts. Colt Green leans up and lands some short punches before lowering back down. Colt Green connects with several chop shots from the bottom. Mashinda Makoni knocks the wind out of Green with a strong elbow strike to the abdomen. Colt backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. Round 3 is over.
Round 4 Colt connects with a hard punch making Makoni bring him in to a tight clinch. Mashinda Makoni attempts to grab the plum but is kept off balance by Colts strikes. Green dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Mashinda Makoni standing over him. Makoni attempts to drop a fist on Colt, but misses and lands in his guard. Colt locks a kimura and forces Makoni to defend. Colt settles for a couple of cross-body chops to Makonis temple. Mashinda tries to pass guard but Green stops him with a well timed punch. Mashinda attempts to set in a hammer lock from being caught in the guard. Colt slips out of it at the last moment. While caught in Colts guard, Makoni gets hit with a vicious elbow. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 5 Green connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Green connects with a hard punch making Makoni bring him in to a tight clinch. Colt Green spikes Makoni into the mat with a powerful slam takedown. Green mixes up a series of head and body shots until Mashinda Makoni pulls him tight into his guard. Makoni attempts an ambar from the guard. Colt defends it but is switched to mount.Round 5 comes to a close.
