Round 1 Brett narrowly dodges a cross from Ryan, but falls catching him in his guard. Brett Ward backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Ward works "The Blizzard" into a corner from the clinch. Ward presses his head under Ryans chin so he cannot defend the piston shots from either side. Ward has double underhooks, locks across the body, and takes Gabe Ryan down to the mat, landing in great side control. Ward slides his knee across the body of Ryan and takes full mount. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Brett throws a cross that easily dodged by "The Blizzard". Brett Ward steps forward and executes a small inner recap, falling into Ryans guard. Gabe connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Brett Ward attempts to drop bombs while caught in the guard, but Ryan takes the chance to switch Brett Ward over to mount him. Brett attempts to escape mount but has no luck. Gabe Ryan swings his leg over locking in a textbook armbar. Ward taps out.
