Round 1 Serrano narrowly dodges a cross from Yoshiro Ochida, but falls catching him in his guard. Mateo Serrano fires elbows off his back to the top of the head of Yoshiro. Yoshiro Ochida sits up in Serranos open guard and spins to an leg lock. Serrano is able to gator-roll out of it and make it to standing. Yoshiro throws a cross that easily dodged by Serrano. Mateo Serrano hits an uppercut to the head of Yoshiro Ochida followed by a hard hook. Mateo Serrano takes a punch and goes to the mat, Yoshiro Ochida pounces into side control. Mateo Serrano recovers quickly. Mateo takes a few knees to the body while under Yoshiros side control. Serrano gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Yoshiro connects with a hard jab as Mateo Serrano attempts a wide outside hook. Yoshiro narrowly dodges a cross from Mateo Serrano, but falls catching him in his guard. Yoshiro Ochida shifts his hips to get better position in the guard. Yoshiro sinks a kimura, but cannot finish. He settles for a switch into mount. Serrano shifts his head and hips to keep Yoshiro Ochida off balance and unable to land strikes. Mateo Serrano gets pummeled by the fists of Yoshiro. Mateo Serrano gives up his back in an attempt to escape, but doesn't quite make it. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Yoshiro Ochida keeps Mateo Serrano at a distance with some well timed jabs. Yoshiro attempts a takedown but slips, and Serrano backs away. Serrano is standing over Yoshiro. Serrano lays into Yoshiros thighs and then backs off and tells him to stand up. Ochida does so. Mateo Serrano connects with a right that puts Yoshiro off balance tumbling to the mat, as Mateo Serrano towers over him. Serrano attempts to drop a fist on Yoshiro, but misses and lands in his guard. A tight body triangle from the bottom position forces Mateo to pull Yoshiro close. Mateo is having trouble breathing in Yoshiro Ochidas guard. Mateo Serrano attempts to drop bombs while caught in the guard, but Yoshiro Ochida takes the chance to switch Mateo Serrano over to mount him. The bell signals the end of round 3.
