Round 1 Koji Miura connects with a hard punch making Jo bring him in to a tight clinch. Koji works to Jos back while standing. Koji throws a couple of outside shots until Gruber is able to work his way back to the clinch. Koji Miura takes Jo Grubers back standing. Jo Gruber isolates an arm to lock a spinning kimura but Koji Miura lands a sharp shovel punch that forces Jo Gruber to release. The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. A jab-hook-uppercut combo has Jo stepping back and shaking the cobwebs out. Gruber throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. Koji Miura is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 "The Rock" hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Koji Miura. "The Rock" stuffs a shot from Koji and hits him with a hard hook to the temple and pushes him to take his guard. Koji begins to posture on his side. Jo Gruber lands a couple of outside hooks and Koji returns to the guard. Jo Gruber distracts Koji Miura with some peppering shots. Jo Gruber then isolates a leg and falls back into a achilles lock. Koji Miura is able to force his way out of it but gives up half guard in the ensuing scramble. Gruber attempts to sink a neck crank from half guard. It does not appear to be tight enough as Miura gives a thumbs up to the referee until he finally struggles out. "The Rock" presses his foot onto the thigh of Miura to get his own foot free. He successfully releases his leg and moves to side control. Koji Miura gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Koji Miura is able to make it back to the standing position. Gruber lands a double jab. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. "The Rock" receieves numerous knees to the thighs from Miura. "The Rock" escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Jo catches a leg kick and fires a hard punch to the head dropping Koji Miura. Jo drops a huge strike to Koji Miuras chin, landing into his guard. Jo Gruber takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Miuras guard. It doesn't pay off as Koji makes his way to standing. "The Rock" takes a punch while shooting but executes the takedown and ends up in Miuras guard. Miura is hit with a series of powerful punches while utilizing the guard. Koji fires elbows off his back to the top of the head of Jo.Round 3 comes to a close.
