Round 1 Steele shoots a takedown from a distance putting Manabu on the ground. Montenegro starts to lock a triangle. Steele postures up and Steele settles for a few stiff chops to Manabus face. Manabu Montenegro lands an omoplata but Steele rolls out of it leading both fighters to a stand up. A wild hook from Billy Steele is ducked by Manabu Montenegro who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Manabu connects with a jab cross combination. Manabu Montenegro shoots but Billy Steele stuffs it, eventually using a whizzer to work to side control. Montenegro takes a few knees to the body while under Billy Steeles side control. Steele wraps the arm of Manabu Montenegro behind his back and traps it. Steele pounds away with shots to the face. The round comes to an end.
Round 2 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Montenegro lands a powerful uppercut in the clinch. Manabu escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Billy Steele throws a push kick. Manabu Montenegro shucks it and strikes with a overhand that crashes into Steeles nose.
Montenegro slips a cross from Billy and lands an uppercut to the liver. A wild hook from Billy Steele is ducked by Manabu who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Steele is caught square on the jaw putting him to the canvas, Manabu Montenegro prepares to pounce, but Steele gets his bearings just in time. Manabu drops a huge strike to Billy Steeles chin, landing into his guard. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 Steele ducks and weaves through a jab-cross combo but is hit with a nasty uppercut. Montenegro connects with a strong body shot combo. Billy Steele executes a single leg giving him the back of Montenegro. Billy Steele tries to set in a rear naked choke, but can't quite finish it. Manabu is able to make it back to the standing position. Montenegro hits a hook to the body and follows with a power straight that misses. Manabu Montenegro parries Billys jab and lands a liver shot.Round 3 comes to a close.
