Round 1
After dodging a jab-cross, Fernando Salazar lands a kick to the liver of King who steps back and begins to take a knee. Fernando Salazar rushes forward to capitalize but King stands back up and is met by a strong cross-uppercut that again backs him up. Both fighters trade glancing shots continuing to find their respective range. Round 1 is finished.

Round 2
Fernando Salazar counters a jab with a stiff uppercut. Salazar gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. Salazar carefully protects himself from Kings strikes. Fernando is able to make it back to the standing position. Fernando unleashes a flurry of punches on King. Fernando Salazar snaps back the head of Wayne King with a stiff jab. Both fighters begin to exchange Fernando catches Wayne with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Wayne gather himself. Wayne says he is ok and the fight continues. The bell signals the end of round 2.

Round 3
After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. An attempt at a clinch takedown from Fernando Salazar is defended well by King. Fernando Salazar grabs an overhook, steps to the side to land two haymaker body shots, then an uppercut. Fernando Salazar returns to the clinch. Fernando Salazar attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Wayne King pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. Salazar traps King in the cage, landing a few strong punches to the face and body. King is staggered by a jab to the chin. Salazar slips a cross from King and lands an uppercut to the liver. Wayne parries a jab but leaves himself open for a uppercut that sends him to the canvas. Salazar stands over King, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. King cannot trap him in his guard and pushes him away instead. The bell signals the end of round 3.
