Round 1 After dodging a jab-cross, Dan Hopkins lands a kick to the liver of Tatsuo who steps back and begins to take a knee. Dan Hopkins rushes forward to capitalize but Tatsuo stands back up and is met by a strong cross-uppercut that again backs him up. Dan Hopkins gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. Dan carefully protects himself from Shimedzus strikes. Dan is able to make it back to the standing position. Hopkins connects with a combination and backs away from the counter combo of Tatsuo Shimedzu. Dan Hopkins lands a strong outside leg kick and follows it up with a jab-cross combo. Dan Hopkins lands a strong outside leg kick and follows it up with a jab-cross combo. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Dan Hopkins attempts to press in but Shimedzu uses a inside reaping to put Dan Hopkins on the canvas. Shimedzu hops to side control. Tatsuo Shimedzu slides his knee across the body of Dan Hopkins and takes full mount. Tatsuo Shimedzu punishes Dan with a series of strikes from the mount. Dan gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Hopkins carefully protects himself from Shimedzus strikes. Dan rolls to his back and turtles up. Tatsuo releases hooks and steps off to the side and immediately hooks an arm with his leg. Tatsuo grabs his opponents opposite arms and somersaults forward into crucifix position and applies a choke. Dan struggles and breaks free ending up on top in side control. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 The fighters circle each other. Shimedzu narrowly dodges a cross from Hopkins, but falls catching him in his guard. Tatsuo Shimedzu locks a triangle but Dan defends well. Tatsuo Shimedzu decides to let go of the hold. Tatsuo attempts an omoplata and almost has it sunk but Dan is able to survive any major damage. Tatsuo cannot finish the hold and decides to stand up. Dan parries a right jab and lands a beautiful crescent kick, striking the ribs. Shimedzu presses forward and is able to jump up and grab onto Dan Hopkins, aggressively pulling guard. Tatsuo powers out sweeping Hopkins with pure strength. Tatsuo is now in side control. Tatsuo Shimedzu attempts to mount, but gets a few punches from Dan Hopkins for his troubles.Round 3 comes to a close.
