Round 1 Nam connects with numerous jabs to the face of Reed. Jihoon Nam is staggered by a jab to the chin. Derrick Reed gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. Giving up his back, Derrick panics and gives up mount instead. Jihoon Nam maintains mount but laying some well timed strikes. Jihoon Nam punishes Derrick with a series of strikes from the mount. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Jihoon Nam connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Nam fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing Derrick to the cage. Derrick swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. Jihoon Nam attempts to set in a hammer lock from being caught in the guard. Reed slips out of it at the last moment. Jihoon distracts Derrick with some peppering shots. Jihoon then isolates a leg and falls back into a achilles lock. Derrick is able to force his way out of it but gives up half guard in the ensuing scramble. Jihoon attempts to sink a neck crank from half guard. Round 3 Jihoon throws a cross that easily dodged by Derrick Reed. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Reed decides to abandon the clinch by pulling guard and bringing Jihoon with him. Derrick backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. Jihoon narrowly dodges a cross from Derrick Reed, but falls catching him in his guard. Nam locks a triangle but Reed defends well. Nam continues the attempt but finally decides to let go. Derricks face is red from the choke and sits low in the guard to catch his breath. Derrick Reed is pulled close and is hit with a couple of strong heel strikes to the back. Jihoon attempts a few a shots from the guard, but gets mounted for his troubles. Round 3 is over.
