Round 1
Brock connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Shawn fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing Brock to the cage. Brock swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. Brock Morin tries for a kimura from the bottom. James throws an outside punch and Brock Morin releases the hold. Morin gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Morin tries to slip his leg out to get full guard, but is having difficulty. Shawn James hits Morin with some punches to the side of the head. James is able to slip into mount from the half guard. Round 1 is over.

Round 2
After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Shawn works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. James dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Brock standing over him. Brock attempts to drop a fist on James, but misses and lands in his guard. Morin tries to move to half guard but James uses the opportunity to land several strikes and return to full guard. Shawn James lands a stiff elbow while on his back. James connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Shawn attempts a switch from the guard, but a scramble takes place getting both fighters to their feet. Round 2 is over.

Round 3
Shawn James connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Shawn sends Morin to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. James mixes up a series of head and body shots until Morin pulls him tight into his guard. Brock attempts to transition to the butterfly guard but Shawn James is too quick and takes half guard. Shawn James hits Brock with some punches to the side of the head. Shawn opens a cut over the eye of Morin. The doctor takes a look at it, and says he's okay to continue. James slams his knee into Morins ribs. Round 3 is finished.
