Round 1 Rios narrowly dodges a cross from Barnett, but falls catching him in his guard. Tim pushes down Sergio Rioss leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Tim Barnett slams his knee into Sergio Rioss ribs. Tim Barnett presses his foot onto the thigh of Sergio Rios to get his own foot free. He successfully releases his leg and moves to side control. Sergio Rios takes a few knees to the body while under Tim Barnetts side control. Sergio tries to get back to full guard, but has to settle with half guard. Sergio Rios tries to scramble out of half guard, but Tim Barnett takes his back during it. Tim peppers Rios with several shots to the face. Tim Barnett slides off to the side of Sergio and lands several heavy knees into his ribs. Before he can lose the position, Tim Barnett switches back to full back control. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 Tim throws a hard jab but Sergio throws a cross right over the top rocking Tim. Tim Barnett reaches down and trips Rios with a beautiful ankle pick. Tim Barnett dives into back control. Rios carefully protects himself from Tim Barnetts strikes. Sergio starts to wiggle out of back control, Tim Barnett lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Tim Barnett is cut open by a standing elbow strike. The ref stops the fight. The doctor take a look at the cut and determines Tim Barnett can continue. Sergio Rios is cornered by Tim who tries to press the action. Sergio Rios is able to block well and circles away from Tim, delivering a chopping leg kick and a grazing cross as he does so. Sergio hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 3 Barnett parries a jab but is caught by a strong leg kick. Sergio fires a haymaker but misses spinning himself around. Tim Barnett quickly takes his back. Rios carefully protects himself from Barnetts strikes. Sergio Rios is able to make it back to the standing position. Sergio Rios hits a hook to the body and follows with a power straight that misses. Tim Barnett connects with a jab cross combination. Sergio Rios hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
