Round 1 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Dan Hammond works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. "Judo" recieves a strong elbow opening up the clinch. Dan Hammond takes down Anselmo Martinez, but remains standing over him. Dan stands over Anselmo Martinez, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Anselmo Martinez is able to grab an arm and pull Dan into his guard. Hammond takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Anselmos guard. It doesn't pay off as Martinez makes his way to standing. Anselmo is hit with a jab and then taken down by a beautiful single-leg takedown. Hammond dodges a few strikes from Martinez and lands an overhand and a elbow. A couple of hard outside strikes opens up Anselmos guard and Hammond is able to move to half guard. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 2 Two quick punches opens up Martinez for a takedown. Hammond pushes in and executes a forward foot sweep that puts Martinez on his back. Hammond falls into side control. Hammond slides his knee across the body of Martinez and takes full mount. Dan Hammond punishes Martinez with a series of strikes from the mount. Hammond telegraphs his motions for an armbar, but Anselmo gives up his back to stop the attempt. Dan slides to the side and spanks the butt of "Judo" in a sign of disrespect. The crowd laughs uncontrollably. Anselmo Martinez tries to stand up but Dan plants him back down with several strikes. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 Anselmo Martinez connects with a series of punches forcing Dan Hammond into a clinch. Dan Hammond works to Anselmo Martinezs back while standing. Dan Hammond throws a couple of outside shots until Anselmo is able to work his way back to the clinch. Martinez escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Both fighters begin to exchange Martinez catches Dan Hammond with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Dan Hammond gather himself. Dan Hammond says he is ok and the fight continues. Hammond hits a hard jab but misses with the follow up straight. Both fighters trade glancing shots continuing to find their respective range. "Judo" attempts a takedown, but Dan clumsily falls down without much provocation. Anselmo Martinez throws a short kick to the downed Dan. Dan takes the chance to rise back to his feet. Round 3 is finished.
