Round 1 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Mengesha gets double underhooks, and unleashes unanswered knees to the midsection. Mengesha dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Mauro Gonzales standing over him. Mauro Gonzales stands over Semer Mengesha, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Semer Mengesha is able to grab an arm and pull Mauro Gonzales into his guard. Semer connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Mauro Gonzales tries to pass guard but Mengesha stops him with a well timed punch. Semer Mengesha is pummeled by some well timed bombs from "El Terror". Semer connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. The round comes to an end.
Round 2 Mengesha tries to find his distance but Mauro is able to land two looping hooks that stun Mengesha, who warily backs away. Gonzales parries Semer Mengeshas jab and lands an uppercut. Mauro Gonzales connects with a hard punch making Mengesha bring him in to a tight clinch. Gonzales attempts a takedown from the clinch, but Semer pulls a switch on him, ultimately leading to both fighters on their feet. A shot attempt from Mengesha is sidestepped by "El Terror" who counters with a hard spear of his own. "El Terror" throws an outside hook that lands flush allowing him to stand up to tower over Mengesha. Gonzales lays into Semers thighs and then backs off and tells him to stand up. Semer does so. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 3 Both fighters begin to exchange Semer catches Gonzales with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Gonzales gather himself. Gonzales says he is ok and the fight continues. Semer Mengesha fakes a shot and lunges forward pressing Mauro Gonzales to the cage. Mauro Gonzales swims for underhooks but is taken down in the process. Gonzales attempts a switch from the guard, but a scramble takes place getting both fighters to their feet. Semer Mengesha circles Gonzales, mixing jabs with body shots. Semer fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Gonzales. A strong elbow forces Mauro to lose his balance and fall to the floor. Semer attempts to drop a fist on Mauro Gonzales, but misses and lands in his guard.Round 3 comes to a close.
