Round 1 Aloysius Van Dijk dives in for a takedown but the momentum of the attempt ends in a scramble back to their feet. Iagan Patterson connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Aloysius executes a single leg giving him the back of Iagan. Aloysius Van Dijk attempts to lock in a rear naked choke, but Patterson rolls into to mount to cleverly avoid it. Iagan shifts his head and hips to keep Aloysius off balance and unable to land strikes. Iagan gets pummeled by the fists of Aloysius Van Dijk. Iagan gives up his back in an attempt to escape, but doesn't quite make it. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 2 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Patterson works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. Aloysius Van Dijk drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Patterson sets a guillotine choke but Aloysius Van Dijk slips out at the last moment. Aloysius Van Dijk is now caught in guard. Patterson begins to posture on his side. Aloysius Van Dijk lands a couple of outside hooks and Patterson returns to the guard. Patterson attempts to lock an omoplata, but Aloysius Van Dijk is able to muscle his way back to the guard. Iagan locks a triangle but Van Dijk defends well. Iagan continues the attempt but finally decides to let go. Aloysius Van Dijks face is red from the choke and sits low in the guard to catch his breath. Iagan Patterson gets his arm underneath the neck of Van Dijk while putting his opposite arm on the back of the head and applies pressure. Van Dijk taps out from too much pain.
