Round 1 "hope of indonesia" connects with a right that puts Josh Mela off balance tumbling to the mat, as "hope of indonesia" towers over him. Nobu Sasaki stands over Mela, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Mela is able to grab an arm and pull Nobu Sasaki into his guard. "hope of indonesia" tries to pass guard but Mela stops him with a well timed punch. Sasaki squeezes his knee through the closed guard of Mela and advances to mount with a knee through pass. Nobu lands a double punch to the head of Josh Mela. Josh gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Nobu Sasaki begins to look for a rear naked choke, but Mela rolls to being mounted instead. Mela bucks off Nobu Sasaki and both fighters get to their feet. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Josh Mela lands multiple inside leg kicks that have Sasaki circling away. Sasaki connects with a hard punch making Mela bring him in to a tight clinch. Sasaki drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Mela sets a guillotine choke but Sasaki slips out at the last moment. Sasaki is now caught in guard. Josh Mela attempts a switch from the guard, but a scramble takes place getting both fighters to their feet. Mela connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. The fighters circle each other. Mela is hit with a jab taken down by a beautiful single-leg takedown. "hope of indonesia" is able to push to half guard. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. Mela chips away at "hope of indonesia" with a series of kicks to the legs. Nobu snaps back the head of Mela with a stiff jab. Both fighters begin to exchange Nobu catches Josh with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Josh gather himself. Josh says he is ok and the fight continues. Josh lands a double jab. Mela throws a hard leg kick but is checked by Sasaki. Josh throws a strike that Nobu slips and then uses a Kosoto Gake trip and falls into Melas guard. The bell signals the end of round 3.
