Round 1 Young connects with jab cross combination. Hywel Young parries Kobayashis jab and connect with a cross. Young dives in for a leg and threatens quickly with a leg lock. Izanagi falls back to his back giving Young the opening to jump into dominant half guard. Kobayashi is able to work a leg through from the bottom to attain full guard. Izanagi begins to posture on his side. Young lands a couple of outside hooks and Izanagi returns to the guard. Hywel pushes down Kobayashis leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Izanagi hips out allowing him to take Hywels back. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 A trip to the ground allows Kobayashi to move into the guard of Hywel Young. Hywel Young dodges some ground strikes from Izanagi, and sends a few back of his own. Hywel backs out of the guard after some unsuccessful motions and both fighters are standing. Izanagi takes a punch and goes to the mat, Hywel pounces into side control. Izanagi recovers quickly. Kobayashi is able to get back to full guard. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 Kobayashi connects with a strong body shot combo. Izanagi Kobayashi connects with a series of punches forcing Hywel Young into a clinch. Kobayashi drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Hywel Young sets a guillotine choke but Kobayashi slips out at the last moment. Kobayashi is now caught in guard. The bell signals the end of round 3.
