Round 1 JT connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Ricardo Mendoza circles JT, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Ricardo Mendoza executes a single leg giving him the back of Edwards. Ricardo Mendoza executes a double hand slap to the ears of Edwards. JT starts to wiggle out of back control, Ricardo Mendoza lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Edwards is staggered by a jab to the chin. A trip to the ground allows JT to move into the guard of Ricardo Mendoza. The round comes to an end.
Round 2 Mendoza fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Edwards. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. While tied up, JT is met with a hard uppercut. Mendoza connects with a combination and backs away from the counter combo of JT. Mendoza dives in for a takedown but the momentum of the attempt ends in a scramble back to their feet. Both fighters trade shots and back away looking for the next opening. Edwards is sent crashing to the mat by a powerful right hook. Edwards thrusts his leg into Ricardo Mendozas knee while grounded. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Mendoza connects with a hard punch making JT bring him in to a tight clinch. Ricardo is in the clinch with JT Edwards, and changes levels for a beautiful double leg takedown. Edwards start to move for the kimura but Mendoza postures up and drop a powerful double-axe handle that forces Edwards flat on his back. Round 3 is over.
