Round 1 The fighters circle each other. Belanger is staggered by a jab to the chin. Rudy Belanger throws a cross that easily dodged by Sonny. Sonny ducks under a loopy hoop, taking "Boy" to the mat, and his back. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Sonny fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Rudy Belanger. The fighters jockey for position in the clinch. Sonny dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Rudy Belanger standing over him. Rudy Belanger attempts to drop a fist on Sonny McDonald, but misses and lands in his guard. Rudy Belanger tries to pass guard but Sonny stops him with a well timed punch. Sonny lands a stiff elbow while on his back. Sonny begins to work the rubber guard. Sonny gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 "Boy" throws a cross that easily dodged by Sonny. The fighters circle each other. Sonny McDonald ducks under a loopy hoop, taking Belanger to the mat, and his back. Giving up his back, "Boy" panics and gives up mount instead. Sonny McDonald maintains mount but laying some well timed strikes. Sonny McDonald swings his leg over locking in a textbook armbar. Belanger taps out.
