Both fighters trade glancing shots continuing to find their respective range. Navarro lands a strong outside leg kick that is returned by Fortunato Velasquez. Round 3 Miguel Navarro parries a jab but leaves himself open for a hard cross that sends him to the canvas. Fortunato follows with a falling punch into Navarros guard. Fortunato pulls out of the guard of Navarro, stands up, feels it out, and drops a huge right hand to the jaw of Navarro. Navarro attempts to create some space from his guard, but Velasquez sees the opening and passes to full mount. Navarro gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Fortunato Velasquez tries to set in a rear naked choke, but can't quite finish it. "Urine Sampler" starts to wiggle out of back control, Velasquez lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Miguel Navarro attempts a striking combination, but Fortunato Velasquez forces the clinch. Fortunato Velasquez works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. Fortunato Velasquez fakes a shot attempt from the clinch, opening Miguel up for a flurry of hooks. Navarro is hit with a stiff double jab and stumbles to the mat, rolling to his back. Fortunato Velasquez stands over Miguel Navarro, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Miguel Navarro is able to grab an arm and pull Fortunato Velasquez into his guard. Round 3 is finished.
