Round 1 Fortunato connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Fortunato circles Acosta, landing jabs at will. Velasquez throws a cross that easily dodged by "5 Foot Taquito". Fortunato stuffs a shot from Mau Acosta and lands some powerful outside hammerfists, eventually taking side mount. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Velasquez parries Acostas jab and connect with a cross. "5 Foot Taquito" shoots in on Velasquez but cannot finish the takedown. Velasquez lands a couple of knees to the head, forcing "5 Foot Taquito" to roll to his guard. "5 Foot Taquito" begins to posture on his side. Fortunato lands a couple of outside hooks and "5 Foot Taquito" returns to the guard. Fortunato Velasquez pushes down Mau Acostas leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Velasquez is able to slip into mount from the half guard. Acosta gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Mau starts to wiggle out of back control, Fortunato Velasquez lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Mau Acosta throws a cross that easily dodged by Velasquez. Fortunato Velasquez stuff a shot from Fortunato Velasquez and lands some powerful outside hammerfists to Maus temple causing Acosta to roll back, giving up side control. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Both fighters begin to exchange Fortunato Velasquez catches Acosta with an eye poke. The referee calls time and lets Acosta gather himself. Acosta says he is ok and the fight continues. Velasquez attempts a takedown, but cannot finish it. Mau takes advantage of the moment taking side control. Fortunato Velasquez is wisely defending a kimura. Acosta attempts to take it but Fortunato Velasquez is having none of it, though Acosta has used the chance the slide into mount. Velasquez arches his body up to buck off Acosta from mount. A scramble takes place leading to both fighters back to their feet. Acosta is staggered by a jab to the chin. Both fighters begin to exchange Velasquez catches "5 Foot Taquito" with an eye poke.
