Round 1 Eugene Gray throws a cross that easily dodged by Erik. A wild hook from Gray is ducked by Simmons who lands a cross-hook to the body before backing away. Gray hits a hook to the body and follows with a power straight that misses. Erik Simmons connects with numerous jabs to the face of Gray. Erik keeps Gray at a distance with some well timed jabs. Both fighters move in to strike but miss their marks. As they jockey for position in the clinch Gray wins the momentum battle and falls into side control on top of Simmons. The round comes to an end.
Round 2 Eugene takes down Simmons, but remains standing over him. Eugene stands over Simmons, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Simmons is able to grab an arm and pull Eugene into his guard. Eugene keeps his head down in the chest of Erik to avoid any submission attempts. Eugene leans up and lands some short punches before lowering back down. Simmons works for a triangle but Gray throws Eriks straight leg over his head and makes it to half guard. Erik goes to Z guard and shoots his head under the arm of Gray and attacks the leg for a knee bar. Gray spins out of the hold letting both fighters get to their feet. Eugene Gray connects with a strong right hook. A trip to the ground allows Eugene to move into the guard of Simmons. Simmons attempts a sloppy triangle attempt allowing Eugene the chance to pass to side control. Simmons takes a few knees to the body while under Eugenes side control. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Erik Simmons throws a flurry connecting with the final punch. Eugene is rocked and stumbles to the ground but quickly shakes it off. Erik Simmons connects with a series of punches forcing Eugene into a clinch. Simmons places a few punches to the ribs while tied up. Simmons gets a trip takedown from clinch and end up in the half guard of Eugene. Erik hits Eugene with some punches to the side of the head. Simmons slips out of half guard and into side control. Round 3 comes to a close.
