Round 1 Barnett is hit with a jab and then taken down by a beautiful single-leg takedown. A right hand from Barnetts guard angers Cook who returns the favor with a powerful left hand. Cook takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Eugene Barnetts guard. It doesn't pay off as Barnett makes his way to standing. Cook hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Eugene Barnett. Ian connects with a combination and backs away from the counter combo of Eugene Barnett. Eugene Barnett shoots but Ian stuffs it, eventually working in a whizzer and landing some sharp knees that allows him to move to side mount. Cook throws his knee into the ribs of Barnett. Eugene gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Round 1 is finished.
Round 2 Ian hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Eugene Barnett. The fighters circle each other. Ian executes a single leg giving him the back of Eugene. Ian peppers shot to the head of Eugene looking for an opening to apply a rear naked choke but Eugene is hand playing well. Eugene starts to wiggle out of back control, Ian Cook lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Ian hits a hook to the body and follows with a power straight that misses. Cook takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head.Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 Eugene connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Cook narrowly dodges a cross from Barnett, but falls catching him in his guard. Ian attempts a kimura from the bottom. Eugene Barnett blocks the attempt and smothers Ian who transitions to an armbar attempt. Eugene Barnett is able to defend this as well and works back into guard. Barnett attempts to drop bombs while caught in the guard, but Ian takes the chance to switch Barnett over to mount him. Barnett lands a good elbow as Ian Cook lowers his torso. Eugene bucks off Cook and sweeps him over taking side control. The round comes to an end.
