Round 1 Ian Cook fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with JC. Cook begins to thrust his shoulder in the face of JC. Ian Cook dodges an uppercut to the chin, though loses his balance and falls to the ground, with Marrero standing over him. Marrero stands over Ian Cook, works his way through his open guard and lands some solid standing punches. Ian Cook is able to grab an arm and pull Marrero into his guard. Cook connects with several chop shots from the bottom. Ian locks a kimura and forces JC to defend. Ian settles for a couple of cross-body chops to JCs temple. Ian goes for a kimura from the bottom, but JC Marrero slips out at the last second. JC attempts a combination of strikes but Ian catches a punch and moves for an armbar. JC defends but Ian sets a short armbar. JC is forced to tap.
