The only thing I might add to this is pay close attention to who is training who. There is a hidden stat in this game where some people people are good teachers and some are good at learning. Every time it says Your sparring session was successful. it means the process was successful even if it doesnt go up a full quarter.
get the $500k equipment - find your best wrestler and use him to train your other fighters until one of them has the same level stat - then you use that one to train the first wrestler until his stat goes up - repeat
