I used to play the way you play. Not as picky as you even, but beating a bunch of bums and having and a good record still means your fighter is a bum. Had to deal with vets not fighting me at all for a while once I made it to GLORY/EFC and you might also if you ever get there. I know it is a hard an frustrating game at times when everyone in tier 2 seems to be able to crush your fighter but eventually you get there.
