Upon winning his first title for Camp Olympus, Grivas was honored by being given the name "Iolaus." Iolaus was one of the famed Argonauts. He also aided Heracles in the slaying of the Hydra and the crab. Iolaus was also a famous charioteer and was renowned for his athleticism. In fact, the Thebes named their gymnasium in his honor and held athletic festivals in his name. This is fitting for a man of a well-rounded athlete like Nicodeme Grivas.
