Round 1 Munakata throws a hard jab but Frye throws a cross right over the top rocking Munakata. Munakata narrowly dodges a cross from Cody, but falls catching him in his guard. Munakata gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Yukio attempt to sit up and push into his opponent but Cody Frye has a strong underhook and pushes back. Yukio uses the momentum to sweep Cody Frye into side control. Cody sweeps over Yukio and quickly obtains mount position. Frye is pulled in tight, and then switched over on his back. Yukio is now caught in Cody Fryes guard. A kimura attempt is defended well by Yukio and he is able to sneak his leg through Codys loose guard, to half guard. Cody Frye lands some stiff elbows from the ground, but Yukio is able to take full mount. Cody bucks off Yukio and both fighters get to their feet. Munakata fires a haymaker but misses spinning himself around. Cody quickly takes his back. Round 1 is over.
Round 2 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Munakata works to Cody Fryes back while standing. Munakata throws a couple of outside shots until Cody is able to work his way back to the clinch. Frye takes the back of Yukio who works for a kimura. Frye pulls his arm out of the hold and push Yukio away. Cody pushes away from Yukio Munakata and lands a strong chopping kick to the lead leg. The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. Yukio Munakata connects with a hard punch making Cody bring him in to a tight clinch. Round 2 comes to a close.
Round 3 Yukio Munakata catches a leg kick and fires a hard punch to the head dropping Cody. Yukio Munakata drops a huge strike to Fryes chin, landing into his guard. Yukio Munakata attempts to set in a hammer lock from being caught in the guard. Frye slips out of it at the last moment. Munakata passes through Cody Fryes guard into mount. Cody Frye lands a good elbow as Yukio lowers his torso. Frye gives his back up trying to escape the mount. Yukio lays into Frye with some strong shots forcing Frye to give up mount position. Munakata is pulled in tight, and then switched over on his back. Cody Frye is now caught in Munakatas guard.Round 3 comes to a close.
Round 4 Cody Frye eats a jab,jab, then a hook from Yukio Munakata. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Cody lands some solid knees to the legs of Yukio Munakata from the clinch. Frye works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. Munakata escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Yukio hits a lead uppercut and follows with a hard hook to the head of Frye. Cody chips away at Yukio Munakata with a series of kicks to the legs. Munakata throws a powerful left hook, but is met with a strong jab from Cody Frye. A trip to the ground allows Cody to move into the guard of Munakata. Round 4 comes to a close.
Round 5 Cody is caught with a double leg takedown, forcing him to give side control. Yukio slides his knee across the body of Frye and takes full mount. Frye attempts to escape mount but has no luck. Munakata telegraphs his motions for an armbar, but Cody Frye gives up his back to stop the attempt. Yukio tries to set in a rear naked choke, but can't quite finish it. Frye is able to make it back to the standing position.Round 5 comes to a close.
