Round 1 Both fighters circling one another Nicolai dives in on a leg and quickly locks in on the ankle. Russ kicks out of it and circles away forcing the ref to wave up Nicolai. Nicolai Kharlamov connects with a hard punch making Russ bring him in to a tight clinch. Kharlamov gets a trip takedown from clinch and end up in the half guard of Barnes. Kharlamov is able to slip into mount from the half guard. Kharlamov jumps out of mount and back to dominant side control. Round 1 is over.
Round 2 Barnes throws a teep backing Kharlamov off. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Nicolai Kharlamov drops down and thrusts forward with a textbook double leg takedown. Kharlamov locks the leg of Russ and falls back for foot lock. Russ desperately tries to peel the hands off and barely gets them free allowing a scramble to the feet. A single-leg attempt is well defended by Russ. Kharlamov stands up, lifting the leg of Russ and executing a trip takedown. Kharlamov snatches a leg and gets a tight grip around the achilles tendon. Kharlamov wrenches back on the ankle of Russ but loses his grip. Russ scrambles into the guard of Kharlamov. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Nicolai connects with numerous jabs to the face of Barnes. Nicolai dives in on a leg but Russ Barnes defends well forcing Nicolai to get back to his feet into a clinch. Russ drops down and thrusts forward with a textbook double leg takedown. While in the guard, Barnes drops a long punch. Nicolai throws the leg over and rolls it over into an armbar. Barnes has no choice but to submit.
