Round 1 Cherry circles Drew, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Shannon is staggered by a jab to the chin. Shannon Cherry dodges a jab and lands a kick to the face of Drew Wright. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Cherry is able to work to two overhooks and lands some strong knees and short hooks. A strong elbow forces Drew Wright to lose his balance and fall to the floor. Shannon attempts to drop a fist on Drew Wright, but misses and lands in his guard.Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Shannon Cherry is hit with a jab then a hook to the body and stumbles backward. Drew tries to press the action but is met with a push kick from Shannon Cherry that puts him on the floor. Shannon Cherry lays into Wrights thighs and then backs off and tells him to stand up. Drew Wright does so. Drew Wright is hit with a hook and a shovel punch and stumbles backward. Shannon Cherry explodes forward with a push kick that puts Drew Wright on the canvas. Cherry lays into Wrights thighs and then backs off and tells him to stand up. Drew Wright does so. Wright attempts a striking combination, but Cherry forces the clinch. Shannon lands some solid knees to the legs of Drew Wright from the clinch. Drew attempts a knee but is taken down by a basic trip. Cherry lands in half guard. Shannon Cherry drops an elbow onto the forehead of Wright. Shannon slams his knee into Drews ribs. The round comes to an end.
Round 3 Drew Wright is cut open by a standing elbow strike. The ref stops the fight. The doctor take a look at the cut and determines Drew Wright can continue. Shannon Cherry sends Wright to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. Shannon Cherry pulls out of the guard of Drew Wright, stands up, feels it out, and drops a huge right hand to the jaw of Drew Wright. Wright gives up guard avoiding a powerful hammer fist. He now has half guard. Shannon opens a cut over the eye of Drew. The doctor takes a look at it, and says he's okay to continue. Shannon slips out of half guard and into side control. Drew gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Drew Wright starts to wiggle out of back control, Cherry lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Cherry is hit with a jab then a hook to the body and stumbles backward. Drew Wright tries to press the action but is met with a push kick from Cherry that puts him on the floor. Round 3 is finished.
