Round 1
After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Taylor lands a powerful uppercut in the clinch. Taylor escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Jamal is staggered by a jab to the chin. Derrell circles Jamal Phillips, mixing jabs and leg kicks. The fighters circle each other. A looping right hook from "its De rrell" sends Jamal to the mat. Derrell Taylor drops a huge strike to Jamal Phillipss chin, landing into his guard. Round 1 is over.

Round 2
"its De rrell" throws a cross that easily dodged by Jamal. Jamal Phillips fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Taylor. Taylor attempts to grab the plum but is tripped to the floor by Phillips who lands in his guard. Phillips takes a risk going for a leglock from being caught in Taylors guard. It doesn't pay off as "its De rrell" makes his way to standing. Jamal Phillips narrowly dodges a cross from Derrell Taylor, but falls catching him in his guard. Phillips begins to work the rubber guard. Jamal Phillips shifts his hips to get better position in the guard. Jamal Phillips attempts to lock in an armbar from the guard. Derrell narrowly avoids it, but allows for Jamal Phillips to take mount. The round comes to an end.

Round 3
The fighters circle each other. Derrell Taylor narrowly dodges a cross from Jamal, but falls catching him in his guard. Derrell Taylor connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. Jamal presses the action while in the guard, but Derrell Taylor is able to switch him into mount. "its De rrell" punishes Phillips with a series of strikes from the mount. Taylor splits Phillipss nose open with a well timed punch. The round comes to an end.
