Round 1 Assis takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Erik Carter fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Assis Safra. Erik escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Erik Carter lands a hook to the body. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Erik Carter uses his under and overhook to hit a solid body toss takedown, landing in full guard. Erik Carter dodges a few strikes from Assis Safra and lands an elbow followed by a hammerfist. Assis Safra attempts to transition to the butterfly guard but Erik Carter is too quick and takes half guard. Erik Carter slips out of half guard and into side control. Safra takes a few knees to the body while under Erik Carters side control. Safra is caught in the crucifix position from side control. Erik Carter lands punch after punch. The ref has to stop the fight.
