Round 1 Wood throws a cross that easily dodged by Chelo. Wood attempts a striking combination, but Chelo forces the clinch. Chelo Santiago escapes the clinch and creates some distance. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Santiago places a few punches to the ribs while tied up. Wood goes for a hip throw of his own, but Chelo is able to counter it, sending Wood to the ground. Wood takes a few knees to the body while under Santiagos side control. Wood gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 2 Chelo Santiago snaps back the head of Kirk with a stiff jab. Kirk throws a crisp jab, but Chelo slips it and moves in for the clinch. Wood works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. Wood is sent to the floor with a spring hip throw. Santiago tries to pull his leg out of half guard, but no luck. Chelo Santiago slips out of half guard and into side control. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 The fighters circle each other. Wood eats a strong cross as Santiago moves into the clinch. Chelo Santiago escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Chelo Santiago pressures his opponent into clinching. Wood receieves numerous knees to the thighs from Santiago. From the clinch, Santiago hurls Wood over his hips dropping him hard to the mat. Kirk Wood almost switches side control around, but falls short at the last moment. Chelo Santiago lands a few stiff elbows from side control. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
