Round 1 Jorge snaps back the head of Philippe with a stiff jab. "Carlito" attempts to clinch, but Philippe connects with an uppercut to the jaw. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Philippe Boissieu escapes the clinch and creates some distance. Boissieu begins a combination but Jorge Souza ducks down, picking Philippes leg. Jorge Souza lifts Philippes leg as high as he can and throws a sweeping leg kick. "Carlito" kicks at the thighs of Boissieu. The bell signals the end of round 1.
Round 2 Philippe Boissieu eats a stiff kick to the face. After dodging a jab-cross, Philippe Boissieu lands a kick to the liver of "Carlito" who steps back and begins to take a knee. Philippe Boissieu rushes forward to capitalize but "Carlito" stands back up and is met by a strong cross-uppercut that again backs him up. Jorge Souza throws a cross that easily dodged by Philippe. Philippe Boissieu lands a solid kick to the inside thigh of "Carlito". Boissieu weaves through a jab-cross combo but is hit with a nasty hook. Boissieu keeps "Carlito" at a distance with some well timed jabs. Jorge throws a cross that easily dodged by Philippe Boissieu. Philippe circles Jorge Souza, mixing jabs and leg kicks. Souza eats a stiff kick to the face. Philippe keeps Jorge Souza at a distance with some well timed jabs. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Philippe Boissieu lands a strong outside leg kick but is hit with a heavy counter hook. Souza sends Philippe Boissieu to the mat with a well timed jab, falling into his guard. Jorge Souza dodges a few strikes from Philippe and cuts him open with a couple of powerful elbows. Souza pushes down Philippes leg, allowing him to pass guard into half guard. Souza opens a cut over the eye of Boissieu. The doctor takes a look at it, and says he's okay to continue. Philippe hits an upward elbow on Jorge, and attempts to get to full guard. During the scramble though Jorge takes side control. Boissieu gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. Boissieu starts to wiggle out of back control, Souza lets him escape putting them both on their feet. Jorge Souza gets hit with a strong punch, putting him to the mat, but he recovers just in time to give up his back. The bell signals the end of round 3.
