Round 1 Tai Yan takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Derrick Ward stuffs a shot from "The Mechanic" and hits him with an outside body shot. "The Mechanic" gives up on the takedown and pulls guard. Ward opens up the guard and rises back to his feet. Derrick Ward lays into Tais thighs and then backs off and tells him to stand up. Yan does so. Yan shoots in on Ward who sprawls well and lands multiple outside strikes. Yan gives up on the shot and rolls to his guard. Tai is hit hard by an elbow from in the guard. Ward follows up with three more strong elbows and an overhand haymaker that leaves Tai unconscious.
