When asked how Coleman is reacting to the news, Coleman responded by stating that, "Well, while I'm not happy with the decision of the governing body to strip me of the title that I had earned through, hard training and commitment, it was written down on the fine print, and thus I am forced to obey the rules of the sport. Chase Jenkins may have the title on paper, but it won't be on his record as he never truly beat a GEC Champion while they held the title.

As a conditional stipulation in the contract that Heath Coleman had signed previous to his fight with Chase Jenkins, Coleman has given one of his GEC titles to Jenkins, although the weight difference was quite significant.
