Round 1 RJ Jodoin feints a takedown attempt and connects with a left hook dropping Pablo Valdez. RJ Jodoin dives into guard. "Deadbeat Dad" is hit with a series of powerful punches while utilizing the guard. Jodoin sits up in Pablo Valdezs open guard and spins to an leg lock. Pablo Valdez is able to gator-roll out of it and make it to standing. RJ snaps back the head of Valdez with a stiff jab. Pablo connects with a hard jab as Jodoin attempts a wide outside hook. Jodoin wraps around Pablos waist, and drags him to his back, taking side control RJ drops some hammer fists on "Deadbeat Dad". Valdez gives his back in an attempt to get out of side control. As RJ spins around to take it, Valdez makes his way back to his feet. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 A double-leg shot is stuffed initially by "Deadbeat Dad", but Jodoin is able to muscle through for a takedown. RJ distracts Pablo Valdez with some peppering shots. RJ then isolates a leg and falls back into a achilles lock. Pablo Valdez is able to force his way out of it but gives up half guard in the ensuing scramble. RJ Jodoin attempts to sink a neck crank from half guard. It does not appear to be tight enough as Pablo Valdez gives a thumbs up to the referee until he finally struggles out. RJ Jodoin presses his foot onto the thigh of Pablo to get his own foot free. He successfully releases his leg and moves to side control. Pablo Valdez almost switches side control around, but falls short at the last moment. Pablo takes a few knees to the body while under RJs side control. Round 2 is over.
Round 3 Valdez connects with a hard punch making Jodoin bring him in to a tight clinch. Pablo Valdez is in the clinch with RJ, and changes levels for a beautiful double leg takedown. Valdez dodges a few strikes from RJ Jodoin and cuts him open with a couple of powerful elbows. Valdez takes advantage of a mental laps from RJ Jodoin and moves into full mount. Pablo punishes Jodoin with a series of strikes from the mount. RJ Jodoin gets pummeled by the fists of Pablo. RJ Jodoin gives up his back in an attempt to escape, but doesn't quite make it. Pablo Valdez lands a series of heavy punches forcing Jodoin to roll to his back, giving Pablo Valdez mount. Valdez postures up and begins to fire off rapid shots from mount but Jodoin tripods up and sweeps him over to his back. Jodoin quickly gets himself to mount. The round comes to an end.
Round 4 Pablo Valdez connects with a leg kick then a hook to the side of the head. Pablo shoots a takedown from a distance putting Jodoin on the ground. Jodoin connects with some unorthodox punches from the bottom position. "Deadbeat Dad" presses the action while in the guard, but RJ Jodoin is able to switch him into mount. Valdez shifts his head and hips to keep Jodoin off balance and unable to land strikes. RJ punishes Valdez with a series of strikes from the mount. The bell signals the end of round 4.
Round 5 The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. The fighters circle one another hopping in and out trying to find their range. RJ fires a haymaker but misses spinning himself around. Pablo quickly takes his back. RJ Jodoin eats a few stiff shots from Pablo, and rolls giving mount to stop the ref from ending the fight. Pablo executes a double hand slap to the ears of RJ. Jodoin pulls his leg out from under Valdez and gets back to half guard. The bell signals the end of round 5.
