Phil Stevenson lands a strong outside leg kick and follows it up with a jab-cross combo. The fighters circle each other. Phil Stevenson is caught square on the jaw putting him to the canvas, Melnikov prepares to pounce, but Phil Stevenson gets his bearings just in time. Melnikov attempts to drop a fist on Phil Stevenson, but misses and lands in his guard.Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 "Andrei Arlovski" lands a strong outside leg kick that is returned by Phil. Phil Stevenson fakes a takedown attempt and clinches with Melnikov. Stevenson lands a powerful uppercut in the clinch. Phil Stevenson throws a short elbow at Melnikov. Lukyan Melnikov breaks away from the clinch while delivering a knee. Stevenson connects with a series of punches forcing Lukyan into a clinch. A stiff elbow looks to have "Andrei Arlovski" dazed. A strong elbow forces Lukyan to lose his balance and fall to the floor. Phil Stevenson kicks at the thighs of Melnikov. A solid kick bruises the leg of Lukyan Melnikov. Round 2 is finished.
Round 3 Stevenson takes a heavy kick to the arm attempting to block his head. Phil Stevenson attempts a striking combination, but Lukyan Melnikov forces the clinch. Melnikov stomps the feet of Stevenson. An attempt at a clinch takedown from Lukyan Melnikov is defended well by Phil. Lukyan Melnikov grabs an overhook, steps to the side to land two haymaker body shots, then an uppercut. Lukyan Melnikov returns to the clinch. Phil grabs the plum and lands several knees to the legs "Andrei Arlovski". Lukyan Melnikov snaps back the head of Stevenson with a stiff jab. Phil Stevenson parries a jab but is hit with a powerful knee to the midsection. "Andrei Arlovski" loses his balance from a well timed strike, and is awkwardly taken down by Phil for the mistake. Phil has side control. Round 3 is finished.
Round 4 After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Phil works the clinch to his advantage, carefully connecting with precise strikes. Melnikov recieves a strong elbow opening up the clinch. Lukyan Melnikovs legs are wobbled by a strong hook to the temple then a shovel punch to the jaw. Stevenson is cut open under the eye by a standing elbow strike. Phil Stevenson lands a strong outside leg kick and follows it up with a jab-cross combo. Stevenson connects with a right that puts "Andrei Arlovski" off balance tumbling to the mat, as Stevenson towers over him. Phil Stevenson attempts to drop a fist on Melnikov, but misses and lands in his guard. The ref stops the fight as the round comes to an end.
Round 5 Phil Stevenson lands a strong outside leg kick that buckles Lukyan. Phil Stevenson then switch kicks Lukyan on the opposing rib. The fighters circle each other. Stevenson connects with a series of punches forcing "Andrei Arlovski" into a clinch. Lukyan Melnikov grabs the plum and lands several knees to the legs Stevenson. Melnikov is hit with a jab then hook to the body and stumbles backward. Phil Stevenson explodes forward with a push kick that puts Melnikov on the canvas. Phil drops a huge strike to Lukyans chin, landing into his guard. Lukyan starts to create some distance with his legs, Phil Stevenson capitalizes by passing to side control. Phil attempts to mount, but gets a few punches from Lukyan Melnikov for his troubles. Lukyan Melnikov gives his back up in an attempt to get out of side control. The bell signals the end of round 5.
