Round 1 "Rambo" keeps Phil at a distance with some well timed jabs. Melnikov attempts a striking combination, but Phil forces the clinch. "Rambo" drops to a knee and attempts a takedown from the clinch. Phil sets a guillotine choke but "Rambo" slips out at the last moment. "Rambo" is now caught in guard. Phil Stevenson attempts a switch from the guard, but a scramble takes place getting both fighters to their feet. After an exchange of punches, the fighters engage in the clinch. Phil grabs the plum and lands a strong elbow that puts "Rambo" on the floor. Stevenson dances around Melnikovs legs and throws a hard kick to the body. Round 1 comes to a close.
Round 2 Melnikov keeps Stevenson at a distance with some well timed jabs. Melnikov snaps back the head of Phil Stevenson with a stiff jab. The fighters circle each other. Phil Stevenson eats a jab,jab, then a hook from Gavrel. Stevenson lands a left hook, only to follow up with a strong kick to the ribs. Gavrel Melnikov takes down Stevenson, but remains standing over him. The bell signals the end of round 2.
Round 3 Phil Stevenson ducks and weaves through a quick combo from "Rambo" and knocks him back with a shovel punch to the jaw. Stevenson connects with a strong right hook. Stevenson executes a single leg giving him the back of Melnikov. Phil attempts to lock in a rear naked choke, but "Rambo" rolls into to mount to cleverly avoid it. Phil Stevenson punishes Gavrel with a series of strikes from the mount. "Rambo" gets pummeled by the fists of Phil. "Rambo" gives up his back in an attempt to escape, but doesn't quite make it.Round 3 comes to a close.
